Is a printer profile useful with QTR?

Is a printer profile useful with QTR?

2005-09-30 by aaashapiro

I am not too clear on profiles etc. I was thinking of ordering a
printer profile for my 2200 from Cathy's profiles but since QTR
bypasses the epson driver would such a profile be useful and if so how
would it be brought in (if at all) to QTR. I am sure I am massively
confused on the subject and would appreciate being straightened out.

Although I've not tried them, I am quite certain that the profiles from
Cathy relate a colour workflow and are not relevant to working with
QuadToneRIP.

If you wish to print a B&W image with QTR you need to determine the ink and
paper you wish to use and use a set of QTR curves for these, similar in
concept, but not the same as a profile from Cathy. It wouldn't hurt to do a
lot of reading of the documentation with QTR and the previous postings to
this list and the B&W printing list.
