Is Quadtone RIP on MAC platform alone and not work on Windows based systems?

I am sorry for not revealing more details:
I am newbie here. Looking for a RIP software for printing CMYK positive film to expose screens for printing on my new Epson 9900, I just happened to see Quadtone RIP, a $50 shareware.
Not familiar with it's usability for color-sep CMYK image files and print black positives on my Windows computer successfully.

I read it is mainly for printing Black & White images. Is it for B&W alone?

Also I read it is on MAC and it is no good on Windows platform.

This prompted me to put my doubts at this group of experts on QTR.

Kindly elaborate on my doubts.

Thanks in advance.

it can be used for monochrome printing on Windows - you need qtrgui as
well for printing though, as it can't be used with the native windows
print drivers. See http://www.sbillard.org/pages/QTRgui - works up to
Windows 7 and the 3880 generation of epson printers so I'd asssume it
works with the 9900. (There may be someone else here who knows for
sure!) I've not tried with Windows 8 or 10 preview. I don't know
anything about colour separation, sorry!

QTR works well on Windows platforms, although the Mac and Win versions are not simple translations (trans-codings?) of each other.

QTR was designed for B&W, I believe.

I’m not sufficiently knowledgable about printing color-sep CMYK files to comment on that aspect. I always start with 16-bit RGB files.

QTR is a great bargain. It actually does what it claims to do. It is stable, continuously being developed, very flexible, and used by many extremely knowledgable people. The only real down side is that the learning curve can be very steep. There are a number of tutorials freely available, but it can still be difficult if you need or want to go beyond the inks and papers that come “pre-installed”.

QTR is a stand-alone printer utility that works very well on Windows. Apparently on Win8 a couple of graphing features that are supposed to show what the curves look like do not work. On Win7 they work very well.

In Windows you don't print via Photoshop. If, like me, you edit in a gamma 2.2 space (gray gamma 2.2 or Adobe RGB) you need to adjust the file for the literally linear space of QTR. There are supplied ICCs in the QTR package that can be used, or I have a Photoshop image adjustment curve that does about the same thing.

The availability of the Windows GUI for QTR makes, in my view, creating QTR profiles easier on Windows machines.

Is it true that QTR works ONLY on MAC systems and not on 'Windows' based systems?

Please clarify....

Photoshop allows for easy cmyk separation
