Part of image missing on 3880

Part of image missing on 3880

2015-06-03 by frank hunter

I am using carbon inks and QTR in windows on my 3880. I am printing some panoramas that are on paper 16x36 using the sheet feed on the printer. Some of the images print in full but often the image prints with the bottom 1/3 or so missing. Any thoughts.

I have a similar problem, I've4 printed several panoramas from 30 to 60 inches long by 16 wide and the last attempt to print one 28" wide resulted in a 7.x by 10.x image printing in vertical orientation and not centered. It is the upper left corner of the image re-oriented. Feed from the sheet feeder as the other pan's were. ???

I'm not sure you both are having the same issue. There are a couple things that
I know of that can happen.

There's an issue to too large a paper size for the printer. One case of this results
in the system reverting back to the default Letter size 8.5x11. In Page Setup if
you select a different "Format for" printer depending on the exact sequence it
seems to can get it to cause trouble. A more tricky one is to get the Epson
driver's Expand for Borderless flag set in a Preset that you then reuse for QTR driver.
A paper size declared for full width of printer (perfectly ok) then gets just slightly
bigger and get rejected later in the process. This is particularly hard to deal with
since the flag is hidden and the print system automatically applies it before getting
to the QTR driver. You have to recreate the Presets for this.
Finally you have the possibility of a connection problem. Ethernet connections can
just drop occasionally, too long USBs can be flakey.

If you have continued problems give more details and I may be able to see
which issue you have.

When you say "bottom" do you mean that it prints the full length but not the full width of the paper? In other words does it print 10" x 36" or 16" x 24"?

Re: Part of image missing on 3880

Thats right it prints the full 36 inches but crops into the image at the bottom (of a horizontal image) about a third. My thought was that the driver for the print is in QTR and so the error is in the information sent to the printer. If it is in the epson software I don't know where to start looking.

If I changed the paper size to 15" from 16" wide on my 3880 would I avoid the flag you are speaking about. Is there a sequence that can correct the cropping of the image.

Frank,

I guess I'm not sure I completely understand the symptoms. It does not
sounds like my other scenarios.

Send me screen captures of the paper size, print preview setup, and a picture
of the result.

I'm unable to make a screen shot of the set up in QTR or make an attachment here. I have put a comparison print on my drop box page:

  \\FRANK-PC\user\Frank\Dropbox\FrankHunter
It shows a completed print and a print that has been cropped at the bottom. The cropping is not always the same.

It definitely has to do with the panorama size in this case 36" long by 16" wide. All other prints seem to work as they should. I have tried to use center image and fit and have tried without these.
