QTR Correction Curve Tool

QTR Correction Curve Tool

2015-07-30 by richard@...

I mentioned in a different thread a tool I put together that automatically generates a correction curve based on a standard 21-step measurement file. It it pretty simple to use and I stayed up way too late putting together screenshots and instructions and posted it on my site with a few examples of what the correction curve does to the resulting quad curves once they are installed. This is not something that works directly with the quad files, but is something that is used with the ink descriptor file for the standard qtr profiling process. I will try to create some problematic profiles that fail to linearize the standard way to show how this will get something that will print without throwing the "Lab values out of order" error at the linearization stage.

Thanks, Richard.

It would be additionally helpful if you created a downloadable PDF version of your web page description and instructions so we can puzzle things out at leisure. I saved it as a “web archive”, but PDFs are more useful.

I just updated the post with some graphs of the thing at work and comparing the results to the standard linearization process. Those screenshots are at the bottom of the post, and there are captions for each picture when the thumbnails are blown up to full size. Interestingly, the correction curve tool linearized two profiles that had failed with the "not constantly increasing" error when running the install script (both were made with the same 21x4 measurement file).

The downloadable PDFs on my site are a good idea, but would mean extra work for me that I just can't afford to do right now. It might be possible in the fall though...

Profile maker on Mac

2015-08-02 by ReD

Hi guys,
Just a quick question. I am trying to create custom curves for QTR on mac using profile maker but the program won't install. Googled for it but nothing. Everything is fine with PC.

What do you guys use? Or maybe you can point me in the right direction.

I am on Mac 10.10

Thanks!

Profile Maker hasn't worked on a Mac for a few versions. i1Profiler will let you measure targets for QTR.

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for your swift reply on the Profile Maker on Mac. I have i1 profiler but having difficulty. I have printed the 21x4 random target already but I can't load the target to measure.

Do you have quick guide?

Access Violation

2015-08-02 by ReD

Hi guys,

I am having an Access Violation when I use the Curve Creation Tool of QTR. BUT only on 4900, 7900 and 9900. My 3880 works like a dream.

"Violation at address 004058F7 in module 'QTRgui.exe'. Read of 0000500"

Do you guys have any idea how to solve the issue?

Again, thank you!

Unfortunately QTRgui does not support the extra 2 inks. If you can use just the standard 8 inks pretend it's a 7890/9890.
