It's most likely a bad curve file. Too long a name can be trouble. You need to delete the .quad file and printer. Re install and all should be good.

I was getting something similar earlier today with my p800. The sting on line xxx was different but it was the same error line.

I have this set up as a custom name printer, and that might have been the issue. None of the other printers I have here had the same problem, and none of them have a custom name. (Although I have been printing for a few months with the custom name printer with out problems).

The only thing that fixed it was deleting the printer in system prefs, recreating it as a bounjour printer (because it's Ethernet, otherwise just are running the install command would have done it if it was connected via USB). Then I changed the profiles folder and the install command back to the original name quadp800 and then reran the install command. That fixed it, but I miss my custom printer name.

The weird thing was that using the drop quad program created the quad file, i just couldn't print with QTR in print tool (no QTR drop down in the print dialog).

In any case I got it working. But it beats the hell out of me what the issue is there. I will check to see if I have some over the character limit file names. I've had that issue in the past, but am usually prett careful to not create profile names that are too long.

Is this part of that silent OS X update that broke Ethernet? Maybe, but the printer is still attached by Ethernet and it has been printing for a few hours now...

Weirdness.

Roy,

Thanks for your response.

I've deleted the .quad file (or at least I think I have) as you suggested as well as the printer from User/System Preferences/Printers & Scanners. The problem is still there. QTR is still trying to load curves that I deleted, including the one that I think is the bad curve file. When I delete the printer, delete QTR 2.7.7 and reinstall, the bad curve file still shows up when I run the Install3800.command. Here's what I get. On top of it all, QuadRIP no longer shows up in User/System Preferences/Printers & Scanners. Do you have any idea where this file might be hidden so I can delete it? I suspect it's somewhere in the Library but no amount of searching has found it.

Thanks in advance. btw, I love QTR, especially when it's working properly! ;-)

Delete /Library/Printers/qtr (the entire folder), re-name curve to a smaller name, delete printer, reinstall QTR, and re-add printer.

Walter and Roy,

Finally figured it all out. I was looking in user/library/printer instead of system/library/printer. Once I deleted the QTR folder as well as the printer from System Preferences, and then reinstalled QTR, everything was right as rain. Thanks!
