Photoshop split tone translated to Quadtone RIP curve

2017-06-15 by ognita@...

Hi guys,

I am trying to print a split tone I have made using Photoshop but printing it via QuadoneRIP.

I thought of toning the 21x4 random stepwedge in Photoshop and printing it on Adobe Color Printer Utility. Scan the strip, linearize it and load it as curve in Quadtone.

Do you guys have any ideas how to go about this?

Thanks!

You can't do what you want to do - print an image toned in PS - using QTR and retain the toning. QTR prints using the black inks, and any toning using the coloured inks is embedded in the curve. For most printers QTR ships with warm, neutral and cool curves, and you can mix these and split-tone. But the toning is inherent in each curve. You'll have to print your image using the Epson driver or a colour RIP. That's what I have to do for photographers who want images like yours printed, because in essence they are now colour images, not B&W images that you're printing with toning.

Hi Brian,Thank you for your reply. Indeed, the tones are embedded on the combination of QTR curves. I tried what I thought but encountered several errors. I'll fire up the EFI.
Thanks!
