2200 calibration

2200 calibration

2006-01-30 by Chuck Kimmerle

2200 with UC inks: Just started calibrating and have had to lower the
setting on the ink calibration to 40, and may have to go even lower
once the paper is dry and I can put the densitometer back to the step
wedge. Does having to go this low mean that there is an inherent
problem with the printer, or is it just personality?

Chuck, in my limited experience with QTR and the 2200, the ink limit is very dependent on
the dpi setting you use in the driver. If you are using 2880 dpi, 40 could well be in the
ballpark. I used an inklimit of 45%, with UT-7 inks, at 2880 dpi.

Yes, Ed's observations are right.

Due the specific drop sizes of the 2200 at 2880dpi
the 40 to 45% ink limit is the normal range.

After reading about others using 75-85, I was a bit mystified. Thanks,
guys!!
