Xrite Pulse with QTR Where do I start?

Xrite Pulse with QTR Where do I start?

2006-06-08 by jlk4410

Can anyone help me? I have an Epson R2400, Mac OS10.4.6, PS2, QTR 2.4 and I just bought
an Xrite Pulse and would like to use it to optimize my B&W output with QTR. have read thru
the "read me's" and I'm lost. I am reasonably savvy techwise, and yet I'm drawing a blank. I
understand that I will need the Color Shop X Toolbox software, which I have, and I don't know
where to start. Any advice, suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Julian

There's a tutorial in the Files section of this group called "QTR mini Tutorial on Curves.rtf"

Would you like to print from Epson's ABW or QTR?

If ABW build an ICC profile with QTR-Create script. Read messages #2571 and #2563

If QTR try to use an existing curve to start. Just strip out the linearizing info and
relinearize...read the above messages #2571 and #2563.

I use a windows system. Therefor there might be some differences.
I use the Xrite utility ColorPort to generate and measure a 21step
target. I save the measurements to a file (format cgats). This file
can be used for the linearisation and icc-profile utilities.
The main problem is the "colored" layout of the Pulse-targets. I split
the target into two parts: the grayscale steps and the target-Id
stuff. I print the grayscale target with QTR and overprint the
target-ID with Qimage.

Winfried,
I have an Xrite Pulse system and the the ColorPort Utility. I'm
afraid I don't understand the "generate and measure a 21step target"
process. What kind of target do I specify (or import?) into
Colorport? My next question, provided I figure out the first part,
concerns the splitting the target into two parts. But I'll wait on
that piece.

Larry,
I just added a file with a short description to the file section.

I hope it solves your problem.
