Front Load Manual Feed with R1800 - Printing Aluminum Panels

Front Load Manual Feed with R1800 - Printing Aluminum Panels

2008-10-27 by donchristy3

Is there any way to force QTR to print from the front manual feed. I
have coated A4 aluminum panels that I would like to print on with my
R1800 (MK3 BO).

I can load the panel (same sequence as loading the CD-Tray), but the
printer still tries to load from the rear feeder and throws an error
(flashing page feed light)..

It is possible to print the panels via the Epson driver, but I would
like to see if there is an improvement with all 3 channels.

I would also like to try over coated rag mat.

Thanks,

Don

Hi Don,

I am sorry I have no answer to your question but instead more
questions for you.

I also have the R1800 with 3MK. I find your idea of printing on
aluminum or rag mat a great one.

Could you give me more details about aluminum panel? Thickness etc.

Also who do you coat the panels?

I am sure many on this list might like to know also.

Many thanks for your help,

Denis

I use InkAid, oddly enough the url is www.inkaid.com and it is available in matte and a clear gloss precoat (I use the later for fabric printing.

I also have an R1800 printer but I've only used it in rear feed mode. The maximum media thickness is approx. 1.3mm but I tend to shoot a bit under that size.

My Canon iPF 6100 accepts a thickness of 1.5mm...

When I print mostly its to the Canon and the Epson takes care of my needs for smaller sizes than 8X10.

A great source of information for this sort of things is a book titled Digital Photo Art by Theresa Airey. Very informative with lots of good ideas.... Good Luck!
