Hi All:

This is an advisory to not order any products from this company.
I ordered a portfolio case from them on October 19, 2010, have not received
either the case or a refund from them, even after ten or so phone
conversations with their customer service staff. They have given me a song and
dance for 3 months, but have not refunded me $67.20 for the cancelled order.

Use other sources for these products.

I¹ll add to this. I ordered some mounting materials that were to be shipped
in two days. Now, more than two weeks and I have not received these
materials. At least you were able to speak with them. I left telephone
messages, wrote emails, all to no avail.
I intend to notify my credit card company not to pay the charges.

This used to be a reliable company, not any more.

They have a rather lousy rating on resellerratings.com. You might want to
add your troubles to the list. For some unknown reason, they are listed
under Light Impresssions Direct. Note the three sequential esses.

This is sad. Light Impressions was "the" place for archival mounting supplies back in the 70's when it was still in Rochester. They even published two inspiring books about darkroom work: Darkroom and Darkroom II.

And for those of us in Canada, they had the presence of mind to provide to-your-door delivery with all border issues pre-arranged.

Light Impressions was bought by 20th Century Plastics and moved the
company to CA. I forget exactly when this happened but the new owners
are nothing like the original owners. I used to buy frames and other
supplies from LI, but since moving, their delivery times are very long
and many times items I want are out of stock. I've gone elsewhere to
purchase what I need.

I think the move occurred 7 or 8 years ago. I remember having placed an order for frames just days before the move with an expected delivery time of less than a week. I got them eventually something like 6-8 weeks later. Ever since they have been out-of-stock on almost anything I have tried to order. The great thing about the original LI was that they had just about everything I needed for storage/matting/framing in high-quality materials under one roof. This is sad after having done business with them since the early 80s.

Here is a list of other suppliers (a few have already been mentioned):

Archival Methods
Gaylord
Hollinger
Talas
University Products
American Frame
Frame Destination
Warehouse Framers
Clear Bags
Climax Photo
Portfolios and Art Cases
Portfoliobox
