Hello all,

I received this e-mail through the feedback form on the Spellbound web
site. Perhaps someone has information about this and can help her out.
  Thanks!

Below is the result of your feedback form. It was submitted by

HelloMyNameIs: Jennifer Kubecka

MyE-MailAddressIs: kubeckaj@...

IHeardAboutSpellboundFrom: google search for "theremin"

MyMessageIs: I am a student at the University of Arizona. Our harp
ensemble recently purchased a theremin from Moog, and since then members
of the vocal area have been plaguing me with requests to "find a score
of anything for theremin and the mens chorus group/womens
choir/university singers", etc., etc. Is there anyone who sells or has
access to sheet music for this combination? Any help is greatly
appreciated with this.

Sincerely,
Jennifer

Jennifer,

Unfortunately there is little Theremin music that is actually written
out on scores.

You might look for choral music that includes an instrumental part
(flute, horn, violin). Often such parts are optional descants.

If the instrumental part is easy (that is, pretty slow without a lot
of jumps) then it should be approachable as a theremin part.

If there is some pre-existing music, you may be able to find someone
who would write a descant/theremin part for you at the University of
Arizona.

All the best...

Re: [SPELLBOUND-L] Re: inquiry about theremin scores

David...

This is the exact problem I had a few months ago and
the reason why I haven't sent anything in a long time
to Spellbound. My dad is pretty good with soldering
and fixed it for me very easily. It works 100% again.
Just solder the break point together and be careful
not to melt the nearby coils.

I hope this helps. I know I was depressed about my
theremin crash too but it really should be fixable.

P.S. here's a new submission "International
Intrigue..."

Kevin's suggestion about pieces with descants is a great place to start.
Another trick for "instant" descants it to take the tenor or bass line up
two octaves, not perfect but a decent place to start and you can fill out a
descant from there.

Also look for any pieces that may have a solo cello, bassoon or horn part,
that's the range I generally play in and it seems to blend well with vocal
ensembles.

Show the instrument off to the composition students too, a suite for harp
ensemble with theremin would be so very cool.

good luck and please keep us posted on your discoveries.
