CF cards like raizinmonster are a better solution imo.Never used a gotek on a sampler though..
Hey Gang,I was wondering has anyone had any joy in getting one of these working with an S1000/s1100 ?ThanksSimon

i haven't gotek. myself, what I do know is that they work. with the akai mpc60, but not with the ensoniq mirage. the gotek floppy emulator won't work in anything that doesen't use a regular PC floppy drive, configured like a regular floppy drive, and controled like a regular floppy drive. as far as I can tell the S1000 has a regular floppy drive, but I don't know how its configured, or how different the akai floppy format is from regular msdos. I'd say there is a good chance It'LL work, but you'd have to try it to be sure. there is a Guy out there who wrote an alternative firmware for the gotek floppy emulator that makes it work with Amiga. if a regular gotek dosen't work, you could try that too. I'd. prefer a SCSI based solution. like scsi2sd but on a s1000 without a SCSI card, the gotek would be the best option. somebody should try it and tell us how it goes! For the same price I'd get the CF card reader.Scsi is a lot faster.

Hi, unless the firmware is rewritten [like it has been done for the Amiga], then it will not work in anything that does not work with PC format 1.44MB disk format, of which the AKAI S series is not. They WILL work in the MPC2000/XL and the S5000 as these use standard format.
There is a 720k variant will work with the AKAI MPC60 and MPC3000/LE but I'm afraid that is all they will work on. But you have to buy the specific 720k version, the 1.44MB standard type cannot be modified to work as a 720k version as it has a different sized cache ram chip installed. Some say a jumper can be used to select density, but this does not work. tried and tested.

My solution to all this was to borrow the akai floppies, load into S1100, save to zip 100, then load these into the S5000, saving to another differently formatted zip. After they're in wav format you don't need the old format.I think the S3200 reads the S1000 and S900 but I did this a few years ago and I'm no longer 100% sure. The old files sound rough to my ears, hopefully that's what you want them for.I originally started samplers when the EII was starting out, and don't have the developed taste for grungy sampling.
Good luck anyway.
