That's exactly what I did before I got my case; just for testing
purposes. Worked fine. I found there was enough of a friction fit on
the though plated holes to make good connections and get the step
leds working.

Top Tip:

It's also a good way to check that you have the leds in the right way
round before soldering ;->)

You could try sitting the LEDs in place - you might get a good enough
  connection for them to work.

Yeah, id given up and constructed some contraption balancing the boards on empty containers, to hang the leds through.

Anyway...

I, unfortunatly, still dont get it. Ive done a memory wipe again to make sure.

In play mode, the leds track, according to tempo, across all 16. (changing global bar length alters this, as expected)

In edit mode, i set the last step: when i hold the f3 (last) key, the led lights where id set it to last, again, as youd expect.

But still only the first step is looped. None of the other steps get a look in.

One thing im a little unsure of....

GOT IT!

Now i was confused as to why it said CC#8 at the top of the direction / last step page... ; )

Time to have a play then.

Cheers, Julian

GBar set to 1 ? Pattern length set to 1 ?
But these should all be set to 16 after a memory wipe.

Jeez, you like a challenge, eh... ?
You could try sitting the LEDs in place - you might get a good enough
connection for them to work.

Aha... I think the firmware build in your CPU must have been missing the
reset of pattern directions in the wipe memory code (the location for
this data moved to allow 'acc conf' to be stored together).
Sorry about that - it's hard to spot that sort of thing when you're
testing on a machine that is already initialised.
I think I'll add a little hidden option to randomly scramble the memory
so I notice these things...

This probably means it's missing from the build in all the second run
kits sent out so far.
The simple work around is just to set 'direction' to forward the first
time you edit a pattern - that'll force it to a sensible value.
Invalid directions won't cause any harm - the pattern simply won't
advance.

US BOM: hold off on orders...

i just received my package from mouser and, as i suspected, the knobs/pots
don't work together... not only that, but the pots appear to be panel
mount, not PCB mount. upon quick inspection, the trimmer pot appears to be
too small too...

i will send complete revisions when i have them.

bleep.
out.
