Hammond Case

Hi Paul,

Very nice case. Have you got details of the part number and
supplier?. Also, would Steve be interested in doing more of these? I
want one :->)

I've just got the remainder of the parts today to stuff the boards when
they arrive...

All the best

the webpage for it is ;- http://www.hammondmfg.com/dwg16.htm

Hammond partnumber is ;- 1456PH1WHCWW

The supplier I got mine from is ;-

Cholcroft Ltd.
Ashley Lodge
90 Golf Links Rd.
Ferndown, Dorset BH22 8BZ
UNITED KINGDOM

Tel: 01202 874455
Fax: 01202 874003
www.cholcroft.co.uk

from memory the case cost me about £25 + postage.. I bought two, one for
P3 and one for something else I'm trying to get started on.

hehe, e-mail him and ask him, I'm sure he wont mind, I'm really impressed
with how it came out.

One thing to point out, the SKIP and TIE markings on the lower mode button
are the wrong way round, I'll get used to it, but its worth getting steve
to change it before he makes any more..
It should be

GT
TI
SK

I've just realised I dont have enough keycaps for mine, so I'll be
ordering a stack of them..

The fourth option is now 'X', or 'XD' if you prefer 2 chars, for transpose
defeat.
Set this on a step, and the force to scale and playlist transposition will
not apply to that step. Useful for drum patterns, incidentals, and bum
notes.

I've e-mailed Steve thomas, and he'll make the changes for future panels.

I called them today and they charge GBP47.59 for this case inc
carriage and VAT. *BUT* they're not really set up to supply to
individuals, you have to have an account with them.

However, I spoke to the MD, a very nice man called Trevor Malina
who will come to an 'ahem' arrangement if you give him a call.

Needless to say. I've now got one on order. Delivery about 4 weeks.
I did mention to him that he might get more calls on this particular
product in the near future.

All the best

Hi Guys..I decided to join the list ..since there is some interest
in me engraving the cool walnut-ended Hammond cases for people.
First thing ..after eading some of the emails about prices for
these ..£47 for one case seems rather high. If my memory serves me
correct..I bought 2 of these which was less than 50 quid including
P&P. I bought them from Onboard Electronics:-

http://www.onboard-electronics.ltd.uk/html/products.htm

who are a distributor for Hammond Cases in the UK. I have bought
several types of Hammond cases of them before ..in small quantities
and withouty any problems re small orders.

There is a pricelist on the (US?) Hammond website I recall
downloading (cant find it right now)..which gives you the price of
all their cases in USD.

I have noted Paul's remarks concerning the labelling changes of the
P3 panel..I can easily implement them.

As regards the cost of ther service..for engraving + drilling all
holes and cutting out the LCD window I charge £25.00. The engraving
is fairly straightforward ..but drilling all those holes is rather
time consuming I'm afraid. Still, the powder coating of the panel
is an excellent surface to engrave and the letters come out very
crisply indeed. The above price includes any colour infill scheme of
your choosing.

If anyone would prefer a black case, albeit with a white metal base
instead of wooden ends, the case I use is from Maplin, part number XY60Q
These are 25 quid, although Maplin list them as 'while stocks last' so I
suppose that means they are to be discontinued.
They are also a lot wider than the photo suggests...
I guess Steve would be able to machine the 'standard' panel layout into
one of these for you.

I'm looking into having cases made by a local sheetmetal work company that
my girlfriend deals with. They do CNC laser cutting, and seem to be very
reasonably priced, for stainless kick plates anyway...
This is more with a view to making ready-built units, but I'll be happy to
sell cases to kit buyers if it happens.

Cheers,
Colin f

Dood... YOU are about to become my new best friend!

(well, Colin's still in there as well... damn, I think I need multiples of
new best friends!)

PLEASE let the list know once Paul gets done being the alpha tester for the
case cutting, and you guys work out any tweaks. I'll be right there in line
to test your patience with the hole drilling! :)

Please do keep us posted. That might be a nice way to go as well. I'm on the
fence looking at either getting a rack panel made by Schaeffer and
installing it into a wood box, or seeing if someone does a run of
ready-to-use cabinets. Since I haven't yet ordered a panel from Schaeffer,
I guess I'm still flexible! :-)

I'm generally not seeing specific manufacturers' part numbers in the BoM,
and was also wondering about US availability of those cool square button
switches with the clear caps. I see 'only available from Maplin' on the
page, and just wondered whether it'd be worth my while to try Mouser,
Digi-Key, Allied & so on with a specific part number. Or is there a bulk
order in the works that I could pay into...? :-)

all the best from a rather warm and humid Baltimore,
Frank

> I'm generally not seeing specific manufacturers' part numbers in

All the parts, other than the CPU which I supply, are available from
multiple manufacturers. The pots I use are made by Alpha, but lots of
people make pots of the same size that will do - with various knobs
that can be used, as long as they fit.
The LCD module I use is a Powertip PC1602F, 16 x 2 backlit STN.
This may be the only module that will fit the mounting points on my
Schaeffer panel design, but the interface itself is generic, so other
modules will work. I guess using the Powertip part will be safest
though.

I wasn't sure how many people would choose those switches. I
certainly prefer them, but they do need square holes...
If anyone wants to buy a set of 25, let me know *today*, and I'll see
about sorting out a bulk order to include with the kits.
I've got about 3 or 4 sequencers worth in stock already, so if there
isn't too much interest, I've got it covered. 25 switches added to a
PCB/CPU shipment will be 25ukp. Obviously you need to let me know
right away, as I'll be shipping the kits as soon as I can get out to
the Post Office.

Just remembered - the Dallas 1210 battery-backed RAM controller is a
single-source part too. I'm sure that's it, but the heat is getting to my
brain...

dont you mean 27?
If you want to use the same switch type for all switchs?

D'oh!
Yes, it would be 27 if you want to use them for all the switches, although
I much prefer the Multimec parts for the knob and key function switches,
to the extent that it didn't occur to me you could use the Maplin switches
for them !
I've got some Multimec switches in stock too, they're under a quid each,
but can't remember the exact cost. Anyone looking for a set of switches,
let me know what you'd prefer.
