I am so happy

I am so happy

2004-11-18 by arp1618

Hello there,

I just got my P3 the other day, i bought Sayer's one. I'm absolutely delighted.

I haven't had a whole lot of time to use it yet but i do have one question i hope some one
can answer. In record mode, when i am recording notes from midi keyboard, the gate is
not recorded. The velocity and note value seems to be recorded but in order to hear them i
have to press the corresponding keys on the P3 to get the note on message. Is this
correct, does the P3 not record the note on message?

I also have one little problem regarding the display. When i got the sequencer it came with
a US power adapter so i used a power adapter from alesis micron (rated 1.5A 9V). This
works fine except the screen contrast goes a little funny when you switch pages. I have
now realized that the micron adapter is outputing AC current and the P3 needs DC. Will
getting a DC adapter solve my screen problem.

And where can i get one. I tried looking round town yesterday but nobody had an adapter
that would fit. Do you have any spare adapters Colin?

Cheers

Tommy

That happens when the 'NDub' option is turned on.
This is short for 'note overdub', and as you discovered, lets you
over-write the notes and velocity in a pattern without changing the
gates.
In record mode, press the page key to toggle to the second page and
you'll see the NDub option there - turn it off and record will work
as you'd expect.

P3 will take DC or AC, so I doubt the PSU is the problem.
What exactly does the display do ? And is it a PLED or LCD on that
one ?
There is an internal trimmer for the display that adjusts contrast
for LCD, or brightness for PLED - adjusting that may help, though
you'll want to get an electronics savvy friend to help if you don't
like opening things up.

I can't source US adaptors since I'm in the UK, sorry.
But I don't think that'll be the problem.

Hi Colin,

the display is a PLED. Basically all the pixels seem to be working but there is a variation in
their brightness. For example, some letters have there bottom half duller than the top. At
first i though this might be dead pixels. But when i go through the menus it is different
pixels that are dull.

Also i'm in the UK. it's a Uk adapter that i need.

Does the Ndub option affect recording in play mode aswell. I tried recording in this mode
aswell but again it wasn't picking up the note ons.
