Yep. I only had one non-PLED character display in my studio, by I had to
PLED it too...

20x2 PLED is just loverly ;-)

The part on the crystalfontz site is exactly the same module I use.
I think the 1602A part number is crystalfontz own order code.
As far as the makers (Delta Optronics) are concerned, it's a PDC1602M

PLED - part #?

2005-02-02 by Mark Pulver

Hi Colin;

I'm gonna put a PLED in my P3, they just too nice not to!

From the datasheet that you have in your building instructions, it says
"PDC-1602M".. I found 1602A & 1602B, but not M.

   http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/index-pled.html

According to the data sheet here:

   http://www.delta-opto.com.tw/english/products/products2.htm

The 1602M has an active area of 56.2 x 11.4 and a shell size of 84 x 44 x 9.4

So, from the Crystal Fontz site, that looks like a match for what they show
as the 1602A (even though the URL says "M"):

   http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/CFAP1602M/

What do you think? Is the difference between the M and and A maybe just the
display case?

Thanks!

Mark

The SDD display is a 20x2 - called a PDC2002M where I get them, but again
the crystalfontz part is exactly the same thing.
The contrast control needs a little modification - for the stock SDD
display, it's just a variable resistance to ground, with a fixed resistor in
parallel. I had to remove the fixed resistor, and add a jumper to 5 volts,
to make the contrast control act as a brightness control. There are pads for
the 5 volt jumper on the board - Korg must have had different displays in
mind.
Also, be careful not to tighten the display mounting screws too tight. And
have fun getting inside - those things are well built !

Cheers,
Colin f

Oh believe me, I saw that that... I have an SDD3300 as well. :)

Ummm, since I'm ordering one, then maybe I should order two? Is that a
PDC1602M as well? I'm too lazy to open mine up. :)

Right on!

Thank you Colin!

Right on! Thank you for the information Colin.

I can't wait!

that is correct. this is the module in my P3, and i got it from
crystalfontz. if you look at the image of the module, you'll see that
"1602M" is printed on the PCB.

bleep.
out.
