> I do wonder if anyone discovers P3 by searching through Yahoo groups -

I discovered P3 when someone mentioned it on the Oakley mailing list.

In my opinion one good way to increase awareness of the P3 beyond the 354
members of the Yahoo Group is by submitting regular press releases to music
gear e-zines like HarmonyCentral.com and SonikState.com. I have composer
buddies who have their browsers default to HarmonyCentral at startup, and I
must admit I check it out once a week. Of course the P3 website would have
to be changed to appeal more to people who buy finished units and the diy
element moved to it's own corner. And the regular updates may have to be
bundled into press release worthy clusters. I have often wondered why
people like Tony Allgood and MOTM don't do press releases to blow up sales.

Also, Dave Smith (evolver) is an expert at getting distributors like
Sweetwater to shoulder costs of the promotion of his gadgets through their
ads in Electronic Musician and Mix magazines. He also manages to place a
lot of print press releases.

These ideas reflect my personal modes of thinking; I think it's fun to GROW
businesses, and that one purpose of business is to expand, but you also have
to want to be busier. Colin may have other priorities/ideas, like keeping
the P3 userbase small so he can have time to play with his boy (I have a 7
month old boy so I know what it's like to be too busy). Anyway I'm going
way OT.

I spoke to Shawn Cleary here in the states and he said that the main
priority is getting built unit orders filled. Is there a chance that some
of us kit buyers will have to wait until the next run of P3's?

That's all pretty much part of the business plan once I get running
properly.

The advantage (I hope !) of running my own business will be that I can spend
time with the boy when he's awake and in a good mood, and get on with
growing the business the rest of the time.
I'd certainly like to see the P3 user base grow as big as possible.
Otherwise I might have to go back to working for the man.

I've not really had the time to get through much of the outstanding waiting
list, simply because there aren't enough hours in the day - but that will
change next week.
I have enough stock of boards to cover the outstanding kit and ready-bult
waiting lists, but my lead times are pretty short anyway, so I don't expect
to be out of stock at any time - I'll re-order in time for new boards to
arrive before the current stock is gone.
I've got a few ready-built units and kits out so far, but it's hard work
doing it at night.

Cheers,
Colin f

hi,

I should clarify that I meant for us, at the shop near Los Angeles
(www.ahpomona.com - btw don't use this email yet, it doesn't work).
Colin and I have only come to an agreement on him sending over
assembled P3 units sometime next week. I'm sure that I will also sell
his kit versions but we haven't worked it out. And they are small so
buying direct from Scotland (not England ;) ) wouldn't be any more
expensive. So if Colin is ready to sell them directly that is
something you might want to discuss with him.

Thank you, Shawn

Two things: Time and skill. Both of these are lacking for my part. If
someone can do this for me I would be happy to pay... but in reality any
commercial marketing is going to cost me more money than I could afford.
Classic catch 22.

I do have an ad in Electronic Musician, but with the dollar as it is, I
don't think that's bringing me much trade at all.

Once I get the Ana-rack done I'll be able to give Gordon Reid some
modules to play with for a review in SOS. He asked me ages ago but
because I don't have a complete unit with case, power supply and the
rest, we never got any further. Colin's P3 is different. Its a whole unit
right from the word go. A SOS review would serve sales very well.
