Thanks for the ideas Colin. I like the idea of using it in a temporary enclosure until Ive had it for a while.. good thinking. As for having everything hardwired and software configurable.. that may work for YOU a software wizard, but for myself probably wouldnt be as smooth!! as far as front panel configurable, its only got one switch for poly/mono mode (which will be set semi-permanently to 4 voice mono with a jumper behind the scenes) and a switch used to program what the aux'es respond to. this will also be set semi-premanently behind the scenes with a jumper, once I take a look and see what the first four cc's are in P3's list.

  thanks again for the ideas
  ~Steve

The trick is not to end up with in that same temporary enclosure five years
from now...

The aux config on a blank pattern doesn't have a useful default, something
I've never really thought about before.
I'll add one in, since it will at least save 10 seconds each time you set
them up for four different CCs.
I've always tended to just use contiguous numbers starting from 0, but maybe
it would make sense to use the allocations synth manufacturers tend to stick
to.
Any suggestions as to the four most commonly responded-to-by-synths CC
numbers ?

I have a number of synths that use CC 105 for Cutoff and cc 106 for
Resonance...

According to my MPC 4000's Midi Event list:

1 - Modulation Wheel
2 - Breath Control
4 - Foot Controller
5 - Portamento Time
64 - Sustain Pedal

Don't know if any of that helps at all...

Probably 1, 2 and 4 are routable to different things on most synths.
5 may be permanently wired to porta time, so not such a good choice.
Aftertouch may be a better choice for default aux D.
