P3 Memx boards

P3 Memx boards

2007-08-08 by sequentix

Folks,

The memory expansion boards have arrived, and work (phew).
I need to order in some header sockets to fit them to the mainboard,
get some suitable shipping cartons, and I'm also going to try setting
up a PayPal button on the website to handle ordering with the minimum
fuss.
Should be ready to rock in a few more days...

Best regards,

Colin,

Excellent, thanks very much for your work on this.

Take my eye off the board for a while to get building and what happens?

If there are any still going, please may I have one.

I'm presently embroiled in panel design: I opted for the legendable
Cherry Keycaps, and whilst nice, they are Smaller(!) than the standard
ones, so I need to revise my front panel ideas.

Thanks

Mike

Assuming everyone who has expressed an interest so far follows through,
about two thirds of the boards are gone.
I'll be taking payment and getting the boards out just as soon as I find
suitable mailing boxes to ship them.
My camcorder is on charge at the moment to do the installation video...

I did get my name onto that list for two, didn't I? :-)

I've gone back to v3 in both machines because assembling a live set of
discreet actual pieces rather than just setups-for-improv seemed to go
more logically with the original memory layout, but I'm terrified of
running out of space now that we've got the polyphonic record thing
working for us.
quick question on that, if I may... how does it interact with "edit
auxes sets on"? what happens if you set up all four auxes as
additional notes & then switch them all on, on every step, & then
don't use up all four notes on every step? do the auxes switch
themselves off? so far, it hasn't been a problem.... no unwanted notes
even though I "armed" all four auxes & switched them all on. ah- & if
you have (I didn't try this, so I don't know) if you have a repeat aux
event & then some additional notes, do they sound with the repeats too
or is it just the "primary" note?
ties work great too. but it must eat memory...

folks, try the polyphonic record with y'r favourite organ sound- the
p3 is a midi looper!

duncan.

Yep.

When you record notes, if one note is held during a step, that is written to
the primary note.
If more than one note is held, the lowest note is written to the primary
note, and the rest to any available auxes.
If you add more notes on top of existing notes, the new notes are written
into the auxes in order.
So if you had 5 notes on a step, and you play a note note chord over that
step next time round, the notes and auxes C and D will still be active.
This can cause unexpected things to happen, especially with relative aux
notes.
But personally I really like to be able to record a chord in by holding it
for a whole bar with ties turned off, then playing in a 'chord memory' type
pattern by playing a new single note pattern to change all the primary
notes.
When you hold 'del' while recording, the main gate, and any aux notes are
turned off, but other auxes are left intact.

The aux notes also repeat.
However, relative aux notes dont repeat correctly, as I just noticed... ;-)
