ONLY 2 question

ONLY 2 question

2008-11-18 by guidoronconi

HELLO!
I wanted to know a lot of things but I'll go slow so somebody can
answer.

-1-Do you know wich comand should I use to go from one device to
another in reason without toching the mouse..?

-2-How should I connect both BCF and BCR to my pc for better
performance?
Can I use 2 USB connections? or should I use midi for BCR fo example.
If it's midi. How should I set the cables? (Should there be 2cables?)

THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH
Guido

hello,

about 2): you can two USB connections (you'll see a BCR2000 midi
in/out and a BCF2000 midi in/out available in your host) - i do so
and it works fine!

I use the usb for the fader model because when I'm going to mix it's a
big deal and have to get everything in order etc. So I know I'm going
to mix and I turn on the BCF before I open cubase. You have to have
the device running when you boot the program or the port won't be
there. The BCR however I leave on a legacy midi port because I use it
to adjust EQ's I never know when I want to use it and if it's on a
hardware port I can turn it on and don't have to reboot my program.

Hello and thanks!
Some weird things happend to my computer when I use both USB ports. In oone case it told me I was dooing too fast midi operations for my computer speed; (It's a core2duo with 2 g ram 800mhz...)
Also I wanted to use bcf for Nuendo while using Bcr for vst's or virtual instruments, AND (this is important) I want to use a Midi piano (FATAR studiologic) to play the instruments too
Does anybody know how should I connect and wich ports should I use to manage this.
It would help me a lot

SO:

  • BCF for Maackie control Nuendo 3
  • BCR for Vst and Virtual Instruments (absynth-ezdrummer)
  • Fatar Midi piano (It conects via midi and do not know which por to plug it in for better performance)
  • Wich ports shoul I use (internally, considering I'm using midi yoke for huskerview)
  • THANK THANKS THANKS

Guido

In my experience, it's perfectly possible to use both a BCF and a BCR
together on separate USB ports. However, this can go wrong for many
reasons. I'm not familiar with all your requirements, but here are
some thoughts you may consider:

You might try to first get things with the BCF's and the BCR's
operation modes both set to "U-1", rather than U-2, U-3 or U-4. (In
principle, these other modes should work fine, but they do generate
additional USB-based MIDI input/output ports on the computer, which
can be very confusing - for both the operating system and the user!)

If you're using Windows XP or Vista, it's best to use a Behringer USB
driver (preferably vs. 1.2.1.3), and NOT the standard Windows driver
called "USB Audio Device", because of the great confusion concerning
USB input/output port names caused by "USB Audio Device".

Finally: if you can, DON'T use MIDI Yoke, at least not at first: it
can be responsible for all kinds of MIDI feedback loops, thereby
slowing down your computer (or at least your music software) to a
standstill. First try to get things working with MIDI Yoke uninstalled
(or at least disabled completely - I can't remember whether that's
possible). Once you've then got things working, you may try to
re-install MIDI Yoke (and possibly you then discover that MIDI Yoke
was responsible for your problem!).

Do you speak about MIDI YOKE only or about all similar kind of virtual
MIDI interfaces in general?

I must confess I wasn't aware of the existence of any other virtual
MIDI interfaces like MIDI Yoke. So yes: I was talking specifically
about MIDI Yoke. However, I can easily imagine similar trouble arising
with other such devices. So please enlighten me if you know any; it
might be useful for me to test them during further development of BC
Manager.

Hi Mark,

a few years ago I had installed LoopBe on my computer:

Some other virtual MIDI cables (which I never tried) are:

Thanks a lot! I'll check them out.

Mark.
