2011-02-06 by s_y_nagual

HI all,
I had to re-install windows XP and now when I plugged in my BCRm it is listed as a USB device...
How do I change the name to BCR2000 like it was before?
TIA

When you plug in a BCR for the first time, Windows automatically installs its default USB driver called "USB Audio Device".
To get a USB device name containing "BCR2000", you have to replace the default driver with one of Behringer's USB device drivers for the BCR2000.
For a comparison of the various options, see BC Manager Manual (http://home.kpn.nl/f2hmjvandenberg281/bcman.html), section 4, point 4.

Hope this helps,
Mark.

Hi, was anybody successful to run BCR2000 drivers under Windows 98 ? I know, officially it there`s no driver for this OS, but...
...there exists some hacks and new kernels , where some software originally for XP runs on W98...

An why I am still dealing with W98 ? I have an old 8inputs/4outputs soundcard with no drivers for 2000/XP -(
And I told myself, I will not buy a new gear, until I`ll not utilize 100% my current things.
...anyway, some new synths in last 2 years ... :~I

A few years ago I tried to make my BCR2000 work under Windows 98 (SE) via USB, but (if I remember correctly) I couldn't make it work at all.

Windows XP (or later) automatically installs its default "USB Audio Device" when you connect a BCR via USB, but I think my Windows 98 didn't do this. Furthermore, my attempts at installing a Behringer USB driver for the BCR also failed.

Hacks or new kernels might make this work, but it seems very difficult.

Can't you simply connect the BCR (typically in operating mode S-4) to your computer's audio card via standard MIDI cables?
Then you don't need to install any USB drivers for the BCR, and the BCR can work straightforwardly with any MIDI software that can run under Windows 98.

Funnily enough my own BC Manager dropped support for Windows 98 a month ago, but if you want a version that does works with Windows 98, just let me know.

Mark.

I recommend this, too. I use my BCR even under Windows XP with MIDI. Less hassle with multiple USB devices...
It also gives you the advantage to switch it on and off whenever you want, regardless of your sequencer software.

Yes, of course, I use BCR2000 in MIDI mode.
But, I think (haven`t used it for some time), there was some problem with Sonar 2 Control Surface - some comunication problems or so...
I have to try again, try again, try again -)
