Err6 and Err22

2012-11-30 by Uwe Jülich

hi all,

i get the two errors when trying to connect with reason. bc manager will also not recognize the bcr. is there any chance to find out what those error messages mean?

thx

See section 21.2 in "BC MIDI Implementation.pdf", available from http://home.kpn.nl/f2hmjvandenberg281/bc2000.html .

Error numbers 6 and 22 indicate problems with the BCL sequences:
In any BCL message sequence, each message has an internal index, and the BCF2000 and BCR2000 require these indexes to increment correctly (starting from 0).
So for instance if there is a split followed by a merge in the signal path, a (correct) sequence with indexes 0, 1, 2 ... would be received as 0, 0, 1, 1, 2, 2 - which the receiving BCF/BCR won't accept.

In any case there seems to be something fundamentally wrong about your connection setup.
Is your BCR in the correct Operating Mode (S/U-1/2/3/4)?

Hope this helps,
Mark.

Thanks for you advice. In Windows XP all works as expected, I got this problems since Windows 7 64bit. Operation Mode is U-1. I'll test the unit again with XP tomorrow, so I can check it's ok.

thx

Mode U-1 almost rules out message duplication via weird signal paths.

So more likely it's a problem related to the Windows 7 USB driver for the BCR (i.e. Behringer's 1.0.10 - I'm not sure about Microsoft's generic "USB Audio Device"):
In my experience this driver sometimes inserts a weird character in its MIDI I/O device names - although I'm not sure if this could cause "your" errors 6 and 22.
In any case, in BC Manager you should first make sure that the BCR's devices are checkmarked in the Options->"MIDI devices" dialog box.

Hope this helps,
Mark.

I tested with xp, all works fine. In win 7 64bit - no chance. If anyone had similar problems and solved this, please help ;-)

thx

Bump.

I am currently facing a similar, perhaps identical issue.

First post, btw:

I bought the bcr2000 couple days ago. I've tried dumping ableton's automap and using bcmanager and midiox to load presets for my alpha juno (all of which I've gotten from the files in this group) to no avail. I am running windows 7 64-bit.

Ableton behavior: blinking lights and Er22

BCmanager behavior: blinking lights, begins load status and stops immediately in the middle; if I send a sysx line by line Er22 comes up.

MidiOX behavior: seems to load successfully on the midiox software but nothing useful happens on the bcr

Has anyone resolved this problem? It is extremely frustrating. Any help at all would be tremendous.

Michael

After doing a little more research it turns out people are having issue with usb3 which im pretty sure ive got it hooked to. I'll check it...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
