" Behringer has substantial R&D and Quality Control departments.

Their new 1 million sq ft facility employs well over 3000 people. They make many components themselves, incl. loudspeaker cones, guitar necks and bodies."

I read this (above) too on the Behringer website and newsletters, but the numbers seem pretty generous for such low-budget products (not calling anyone cheap here, I own at least 4 Behringer products myself).

Maybe they are that successful and can put this kind of resources behind their production, but with the numbers above, they must be one of the wold's largest existing music equipment makers. Then again, with every corporation building plants in China at bargain labor rates, maybe they do have that many people - BUT, I would be surprised.

Has anyone reading here ever seen these facilities? Is there a video tour online, etc? I would like to see it, if it is a reality.

First of, all I made a typo; the plant is actually 2 million sq ft. and the number of employees is now over 3500.

I personally know someone who went on the factory tour in Behringer City earlier this year. He was impressed.

There was also a write-up in AudioTechnology Mag (Australia) last year. A musician responded in a letter to the editor, expressing concern about conditions for the workers in China. As a result, he was invited by Behringer to a factory tour in March this year.

The editor of AT mag also went on that tour (as did a group of dealers from around the world) and made a 2 part video. It's available on youtube - just search for 'behringer factory' (most info is in part 2).

While just checking youtube, I noticed that behringer now have their own promo video.

Audiotechnology Magazine video reports:

Behringer's own video:

OK, I just watched the videos from Behringer and the Australian reporter. All very impressive indeed.

But, with all those resources, why the SEC issue on UL listings, etc? I just do NOT get why an outfit with such obviously enormous resources has such issues.
I am a big fan of Behringer products, but still have to wonder at what their priorities are if a long list of goods are sent to a market bypassing its legal and safety requirements. If they did this in the EU, it could close the company, but we're only talking about the USA where money seems to be able to heal all wounds. Hmm, maybe I just answered my own question.

Thanks for the tip on the videos!
