WOndeinrg if anyone has heard of these amperex tubes????????

2007-04-25 by kidkrazy58

I bought an old peace of lab gear for 50 dollars and it had 30 tubes
in it the magority of it had this written on it ecc83/12ax7a with the
brand name amperex and it also said made in holland in white letters.
i also got several 12au7/ecc82 amprex brand made in great britten and
some 12av7 amperex. i never heard of amperex, i guess its just some
poor tube brand no one ever liked and goes for nothing now. it sucks
cause i was hoping for something better but serisouly like 16 of my
tubes have this brand. oh well there was also some 5687 and 6136 and
some ck5881. Well if any one knows anytihing about t he qaulitie of
these tubes just let me know. my freind has a tube tester and he
tested a couple for me and said there all tested really high.
OH yeah and i order all sorts of weird beam deflection tubes and
thryotons ands space charge tubes like 12k5 6gm8, the ones for the
tube modules basiclly or at least the ones i didnt have or needed more
of. I hope they comein today!!! ok thanks guys

What?? Is this a joke?? It sounds like you just won the tube
lottery. ECC83/12AX7 are the most popular tubes used in audio
pre-amplifiers. Amperex is an extremely well-known brand, and are
highly-valued by hifi weenies. While I don't believe anything about
tubes that cannot be substantiated by a little thing I call physics,
Amperex made very good tubes, and they often fetch a high price on
the used market.

PLeasent surprise. i had no idea. i have some telefunken tubes i
found this way and mullard tubes and other european. ALl i do is buy
old lab gear from this place called epo. and usually i spend 20 to
50 dollars on gear with 10-30 tubes in it. its kinda risky cause
they could be bad but so far ive never ever gotten a jap tube or
russian tube. there all at least american. so maybe i should keep it
up. cause when i add up the value for the tubes and take in account
that i know i wont get the price that the big tube companies get for
them, i usually divide the price in half at least, ive come out with
on avarege 200 dollors worth of tubes. and this time i got pretty
lucky.
Oh and i got thise all tube pulse width generator that could make
two pulse waves and you could control the width and it was between 1
cycle and 15,000 cycles. it would have been nice to track it to a
keyboard some how but i ended up jus tearingit apart for the bir
transformers and tubes and some other things. but i saved the power
supply which is perfect for powring 15 or so tubes at 250 volts and
there filiments. alotta amaps it had and it had a fan. so i might
use that to power my tube synth im in the middle of making.
One other really good thing i got was that tube power supply that
could go from 1 to 3000 volts dc at 20 amps. i paid 20 dollars for
that cause it had a few of those nasty semiconducter thingies in it
but then i saw it for sale on ebay for 400. course that means id
have to lower it to 200 to even get a bid prob.
Oh and one other thing i got was a hammond tone cabinet im gonnamake
anotherpost about that cause im curious about that now.
