Hi.
This is great, I have been using Shaeffer panels a lot lately because
they are wonderful. for theose of us who don't like the form factor of
frac rac.

Is there anywhere I can view this without special software? Since I
am a Mac and Unix user I can't easily view .fbd files and I can't
manage them either. I usually give Shaeffer the URL of where I or the
designer has stored the file and then they fetch it. I have ordered many
panels thet way this year.

Thanks again

Gino

I can't think of how to transfer that file into a photo file so that you can
see it. Can anyone else? I don't know much about that stuff, sorry. :)

I agree about that format. Though ultimately more expensive and
space-consuming (money and space being the two things I'm most short on),
after patching into my first MOTM, I was converted to 1/4" jacks and
well-spaced knobs. That Oakley (through Shaeffer) and the Stooges make this
format so available is really convenient (and kind) too.

Frac racs are good for gigs. Though at my first solo gig I had a jack go
intermittent, and I had to hold it at a certain angle w/ one hand. Not good
for improv!

To view this panel file you will need to download Front Panel Designer
from Schaeffer Apparatebau:
http://www.schaeffer-apparatebau.de/English/FPD_index.htm

It is free and installs easily. I have ordered 10 panels from Schaeffer
and I think they are quality front panels. Kai Schaeffer is very nice to
communicate with. The only 'drawback' is that the shipping costs can be
as much as a panel (Germany -> USA). If you like designing
custom panels (say, yours is one of a kind), Front Panel Designer is
great. If you do intend to design some of your own panels or modify
existing panels (like burstgen.fpd because you need a different fit or you
would like a layout different from mine), be sure and read the FAQ page on
the web site.

Hope this helps, Jeff

The editor will need to be downloaded from here:
http://www.schaeffer-apparatebau.de/

The link is in the bookmarks section of the group as well.

aloha folks!

i thought about using smaller knobs for this unit - but i'd rather it stay in the format
of things motm and not take up too much space (running out of cab space). but yeah
the UEG layout could work. on the panel i made up i left out the MIX IN jack - as usefull
it might be i felt it was the least of the things i would want in a mini seq/audio channel switcher.
i think your right about the up/down jack - im not sure about the RSS

also - has anyone in here experimented w/ a gated sequencer panel that is 2U or at least 3u?
i'm running very short on space - but an 8 stag gate seq would be handy - the panels i've seen
you guys make are all 4u or 5u - on those panels do the switch holes match up to the switch
board PCB from ken? i'm thinking of some cutting n pasting ;)

all the best folks

comments welcome (leds are not lined up yet right)

This looks good overall.

The only thing I'm not sure about is whether it would make sense to
somehow line up the stage knobs with the stage in's, gates & led's.
That's what they did with the UEG, which is similar in some ways:
http://www.encoreelectronics.com/cont_ueg1.html

To get everything lined up and still keep the pots with MOTM spacing
would eat up a lot of panel space, though.

I have a question - how does the Up/down jack wire in? This is how
I'm reading it:
UD switch - Top to +15, middle to SW pad, bottom to NC connector or
UD jack.
UD jack then would have the signal connector wired to UD pad.

Is that right?

Also - what the RSS pad on the pcb for?

Thanks!

UD jack - signal connector wired to UD pad.

If you want, it is possible to add a rotary switch to select your sequence
lengths. Gate outputs are wired to a 10 way switch (you need the two blank
positions - one at either end. The common of this switch goes to RSS (ReSet
Switch).
