Seq Switch Project Completed!

Seq Switch Project Completed!

2008-06-07 by Scott Deyo

hey all,

so i finished my sequential switch/ event sequencer this morning. it
roolz, all other seq's droolz!
; )

the up/down control, the reset and inhibit controls, inverted output,
mix input -- what a great module!
adding LFOs to certain steps makes it very very very fun, or even audio
-- get some FM klang on every fifth step, for example.

i added a gate bus jack for the switches, w/ a diode between each gate
output and switch, all switches' middle lugs bussed to the jack --
works great, but i used four different-colored LEDs, and not all gates
are at the same level (very close though). i'll take the tradeoff for
prettiness.

the bridechamber glide DOES NOT WORK when inserted before the mixer
output. the 4051 must be sendin' somethin' the glide doesn't like. i
think the 358 locked up, which was weird. maybe it was the 4051,
though; i didn't test it. so i put the glide after the circuit's
outputs, using a dual-gang pot for glide.

the audio-rate glide works well at audio-rate clocking. now if only we
had an ultra-sonic VCO... maybe just maybe someone will be coming out
w/ one pretty darn soon (hint hint)...

my step selection rotary is a little weird, though. some steps are
skipped, though i've checked my wiring 10 times...

i love this module. there is a forest of wire back there, so put on
some good tunes and relax; it'll take a while.

i'll be adding final pics to the site today or tomorrow, and some sound
samples too.

cheers,
Scott Deyo

I'm having problems with mine. :( The LEDs barely light up, and only
the first one does. I could use some help with the step switch too.
Maybe I'll disconnect it for a while.

I've been concentrating on my cabinet lately, but now I'll have a
little time to work on the sequencer again. Maybe you can explain how
it's all supposed to be wired up, and if I need any diodes to make the
connections one-way.

I haven't wired up the glide yet. Right now I'm just trying to get the
lights to go 1-8 and back again.

Did you see Ken's possible mod for some 4516 chips on his page? If
you're not clocking, that may well be the fix.

The only diodes I added were between the Gate Outputs and the On/Off
switches. They're off-board. You can see them on the pic on the site
(which I still need to link to the file so you can see it bigger). I'll
try to get to a wiring diagram this week too.

Cheers,
