joysticks

I looked around for awhile for joysticks. Best deal I found are remote controlled airplane transmitters. I bought mine for $20. You get 2 joysticks and a few switches that you came make into gate and/or trigger. Get a few and put your keyboard aside (hopefully forever !!)

Yeah, I had thought about the model airplane
controller. However, the joysticks I have seen in the
"$20 controller" tend to be of a quality that's not
quite as high as I'd like. they would definitely
function, but for what I'm building I want them to be
as nice as possible: something I can look at in 15
years and still be content. I do have a project down
the road that I can salvage the toy airplane
controllers for.

Thanks!

Does somebody found a partnumber for a good joystick ?

they only ones I found are from ALPS ref. RKJXK122000D (available
from mouser)
they are 10kOhm and only rated for 5VDC, so I doubt if they can be
used ?

Any alternatives ?

thx,
Steven

It should. The ratio is what is important, not the values. Needless to say
though, you do not want to have your resistance too low, as you will start
to load up the power supply. By too low, I'm talking under 1k.

I finally ordered these joysticks from Electronic Surplus, but they
are quite small.
Did somebody find a nice way to extend the stick of the joystick to
make it more useable ?

thx,
steven
