Profiling a Dell XPS Laptop

Profiling a Dell XPS Laptop

2009-01-10 by Mel Hughes

I have just received my first laptop, a Dell XPS 1330. I may have
missed something but I haven't found any display adjustments other than
brightness, no RGB sliders or anything. Will I be able to profile the
display on this laptop?

I think the lack of adjustment options is pretty common in laptops.
One thing you might check is to see if there is some sort of
"advanced" option for the display that might offer more choices for
what you can adjust.

It's certainly worth trying to calibrate even with the limited choices
of what you can modify...

No problem profiling your laptop without controls other RNA backlight.
That's very typical. What you can't do is hardware calibrate it. But
as long as the gamma and whitepoint you choose are fairly close to the
native ones, software calibration at the videocard, and profiling will
do the trick nicely.

Thanks, C.D. It went quickly and worked great with my Spyder3Elite.
There is a quite a difference with the calibrated display being
warmer.
