I too have green screen after cal.

I too have green screen after cal.

2009-10-03 by will

Hi
I just bought a Spyder 3 from B&H to set up my new Dell U2410 (this is a brand new monitor from Dell). I too have tried many variations and always get a very bland yellow /green screen . I was going to send it back to B&H but this is one of the few items they will not exchange for refund so I am stuck with it. On the dell they have presets one of which id sRGB that looks very good after setting color space in windows to same sRGB. but it is not perfect but I could live with it .
Question did I just through away $141 ? I have checked many forums on this subject and seems many have same problem. Some say Spyder 3 functions have been disabled and can be engaged with software for another $99 like in the elite spyder. OK so how do I get this thing to work.? Could it be defective if so how do I replace or better yet how do I get my money back . Any help would be fantastic
Thanks......... William Strosahl

Your best bet is to open a support ticket at www.datacolor.com/ so datacolor can take care of you officially.

With that said, I try to avoid B&H as for some reason they always send me defective cameras and lenses hoping I will not notice. Items that people return seem to be shipped to me. Recently my buddy was in a bind and needed a Canon lens overnight so I ordered a new one from B&H... sure enough the lens was defective, had a scratch on the rear element with fingerprints from someone that tried to clean it.

Always? Hmmm I would have learned a lesson about buying from a store that ALWAYS sent me something defective.

Sadly you choose to blast b h but don't say how they handles the return.

I can see why they would not accept a return of an item such as this, a buyer could use and return.

I have bought lots from them as many have without issue. With as much volume as they do, they may be from time to time a defective item, not their fault, in the group.

Spyder3 functions have not been "disabled" in Spyder3Pro, it just has
a simpler feature set than Elite. You need to go to the Datacolor
website, and send in a support ticket, and they will take care of this
for you directly, instead of via a reseller.

If you then choose to upgrade from S3Pro to S3Elite, you can do that
as a website software upgrade, but definately put in a support ticket
first, as it should be possible to solve your issue without upgrading.

I stopped ordering about 2 years ago from B&H. But as mentioned my buddy was in a rush a few months ago so I figured I'd give it the old college try.... but still the same crap. B&H might have a bin labeled "Returned items to be sent to the guy in NJ ".

They replaced everything I returned but that gets old after awhile.
