Win 7 - where did my profile go?

Win 7 - where did my profile go?

2010-02-21 by bill_hansen20012001

New computer, running Windows 7 - just completed my first profile using Spyder3 Elite. Everything seemed to go well until I tried to check that my profile was actually in the WIndows/System32/Spool/Drivers/color subfolder where it was always saved in Windows XP. I had named the profile "EUPL" (for Epson Ultra Premium Luster paper) but in the folder mentioned, there was no such profile. My monitor profile is there where it should be. Are printer profiles now saved in a different place? Did the profile not save after all?

Why not do a search for it?

Hi,
Did you mean Spyder3Print? Elite is for monitors and Print for Printers. Still, a saved profile should go to the folder you outlined in Windows 7. (as it did in XP)
Let us know where you find it.

Bewinkjet and Gary -

Yes, I did mean Spyder3 Print. Sorry for my carelessness.

I did a Search as you suggested Gary (thanks very much for that suggestion, which I guess I should have thought of myself - but I didn't), and the profile does show up, but it's in the folder Users\Bill\AppData\Roaming\DatacolorSpyder3Print\Data\Print\PrintProf EUPL 021910.xml

It does not show up in the win32\spool..... folder. That seems strange.

Is this a new place where Datacolor profiles are supposed to be saved? If not, is there a way to change my copy of Spyder3Print so printer profiles are saved to the win32\spool..... folder?

It's a minor annoyance to have to move them to the Win 32.... folder, but of course it can be done. Why save things in such an odd place?

Bill

What you are seeing us a nesurement set, not a profile. Sounds like
you measured the target, and possibly printed a SpyderProof print, but
never actually saved a profile. You can reopens the measurement set
and do that.

Re: Win 7 - where did my profile go?

Thanks CD - I did know that but I'm grateful for the reply. Later today, I'll "revise" the xml file and save the result. It will be interesting to see how well I did at measuring. My technique deteriorated a lot during the months I was away from photo printing and color management.

As soon as time allows I'll also do another complete profile creation and see where I went wrong during the Save process.

Re: Win 7 - where did my profile go? - resolved

2010-02-22 by bill_hansen20012001

I "edited" theh xml file and was able to save the profile - which proves that I somehow failed to save as a profile yesterday.

The resulting profile is absolutely spot on as far as color and saturation go. It did need a +5 adjustment of Brightness. All's well now.
