Red colour cast

Red colour cast

2011-08-26 by markvuleta@xtra.co.nz

Hi guys.

I have Spyder 3 Studio suite and running version 4.0.2 for the monitor calibration.

I have just updated one of my screens and have profiled this and re-calibrated the other.

Both screens have a bad red colour cast to them now.

I wonder if the filter over the sensor has failed or it it is something I have done incorrectly.

The system was working fine prior to changing one of the monitors.
Windows 7 64bit, Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT running dual monitors, both AOC, one a LM721 and the new other one a i2353 IPS.

Similar symptoms have been posted previously, but the search did not show much of a result.

Regards

Mark

Well, stranger things have happened at sea I suppose;

But I went through the entire procedure again (the 5th time this evening!) and it worked perfectly, no colour cast at all.

I changed nothing within the system at all, very very strange indeed!

Cheers

Mark

Interesting timing! I just contacted Datacolor a couple of hours ago because I am unable to save new profiles in 4.0.2. The reason I was recalibrating is because my update to 4.0.2 several days ago has somehow resulted in a slight red cast when I use Photoshop's Save for Web tool. I had had this problem (only worse) a few years ago before buying a new monitor and the Spyder3Pro. I hadn't had the problem since then until a few days ago. I had tried several things and finally decided to do a full recalibration again today. No luck. It won't let me save a profile once it has completed the calibration.

Start by changing your profile "save" location, to make sure it's not a permission issue.

Try removing display two, and doing a FullCal on display one, just to rule out some complexities. And tell us that displays and what calibration settings.

Re: Red colour cast

Thanks, David.

I'm the administrator on this lone PC and verified that I still am.

I got instructions from support for downloading a cleanup app. Ran it, unstalled/reinstalled 4.0.2 once again. Ran a full calibration again and was successful in saving the profile this time. The "Next" button wasn't grayed out as it was earlier. So, that problem seems to be solved. Now, to find out why my red cast has returned when using "Save for Web" and figure out how to fix it.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
