Hi Joe, Sounds to me that you may have some sort of a ground loop. Radio Shack makes a ground loop isolator that works pretty good: Ground Loop Isolator $16.99 Model: 270-054 Catalog #: 270-054 Bill -----Original Message----- From: disklavier@yahoogroups.com [mailto:disklavier@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of jschembri2000 Sent: Friday, September 18, 2009 9:39 AM To: disklavier@yahoogroups.com Subject: [disklavier] Re: Speakers vs Stereo Hi Bill, I hooked the Rolls MX22 mixer to the output jacks on the E3 unit and got sound through the speakers but with a hum . Yamaha suggessted I could try the Omin out jack ,same results. Any thoughts? The issue is an impedance mis-match. The mixer will allow you to compensate for the mis-match. As Carol said, the Disklavier is designed for powered speakers. The mixer will allow you to use to stereo system in its place. Sound quality will be good. > > > > Bill > > > > Bill Brandom > > Senior Technical Manager > > Keyboard Division > > Yamaha Corporation of America > > Phone: 714.522.9417 | FAX: 714.522.9301 > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: disklavier@yahoogroups.com [mailto:disklavier@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of jschembri2000 > > Sent: Friday, September 11, 2009 6:41 PM > > To: disklavier@yahoogroups.com > > Subject: [disklavier] Re: Speakers vs Stereo > > > > Hi Carol, > > > > Thank you for the infomation . > > > > My thought was not to have an extra pair of speakers in the room , if I could get good sound quality out of the stereo .However, I'm not opposed to buying the speakers and will look at what you suggested. > > > > In the intermin I ordered the mixer Yamaha suggested and will post the results. > > > > Regards, > > Joseph > > > > > > > > > > --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, "Carol Beigel" <thecarolb@> wrote: > > > > > > Anytime you connect speakers to a Disklavier, they must be POWERED > > > speakers - like as in heavy because they have their own power supply. > > > Historically we have used Advent speakers that cost $300.
