DKC-850 Disklavier Control Unit

Disklavier Control Unit is for sale on ebay.
Just thought somebody could be interested.
All the details here:

thank you!

Re: DKC-850 Disklavier Control Unit

Does anyone know if there are any differences between this DKC-850 originally purchased in the UK and the ones available in the States?

For instance, the photos show that it comes with a standard UK 220V power plug, but the picture of the back panel shows that the power input is a circular 12V DC jack, so it should be easy to get an appropriate transformer and cable.

But are there any other internal or operational differences that might cause problems for a US user?

Thanks.

The UK DKC850 was virtually the same as the DKC800, which is the Disklavier E3 controller. In the UK, the E3 has the 'Silent' function which was not originally available in the US. otherwise, there should be no functional difference. Just get a mains adaptor from Yamaha, if you want to use it the US.

Good afternoon, everyone.

Just to be clear, in the US (and probably elsewhere), the DKC-850 supports the silent system when used as a replacement controller for earlier pianos that have a silent system.

Re: [disklavier] DKC-850 Disklavier Control Unit

2013-08-07 by Richard Banks

Good afternoon George.. ??
Is my disklavier C5 easy to convert for use with the newer units (thinking 850).
If so how much trouble and cost?
I'm a one owner thinking about selling. And thinking upgrading first might be of help.
My pristine Piano was purchased new for my recording studio, which I sold a fee years ago, and since I'm not really a piano player !
Thank you,
Richard in AZ

Re: [disklavier] DKC-850 Disklavier Control Unit

2013-08-07 by George Frederick Litterst

Good afternoon, everyone.

Richard, if your piano is a Mark IV, the DKC-850 does not apply.

If it is a Mark III or Mark IIXG, the DKC-850 is an excellent unit that will replace the original unit. (I would recommend, however, keeping the original unit with the piano.)

If the instrument is an older Mark II or the original "wagon grand,", it will connect to the piano using MIDI cables. In this case, it is not a complete replacement for the original control unit.

Which model do you have?

Regards,
George

Good evening, everyone.

Richard, does the instrument have a CD drive?

Does it have an internal tone generator that plays orchestrated MIDI tracks?

I am starting to think that maybe you have a Mark II.

Are you the one selling it?

I am wondering if units sold for England will work exactly the same in the
US.

Hi:

The DKC 850 comes with an adaptor convertor that can be used in all regions. The console works on 12V DC and the wire adaptor is similar to the type we have on laptops. So it can be used in US or UK. The only difference would be the pin to put into the socket ( which varies from place to place).

Hope this clarifies your question.

Re: [disklavier] DKC-850 Disklavier Control Unit

2013-08-12 by Adrian Thomas

If you look at the 'D' type connector on the back of your control unit (DKC), it will either have 9 pins, arranged in two rows or it will have 15 pins arranged in 3 rows. If you have 9 pins, you need to connect the DKC850 via MIDI, if you have 15 pins, it is a direct the replacement. ( the MIDI option will not let you use internet Radio).
