English text occasionally mixed with Japanese or symbols

2013-12-08 by <mqphan@...>

Hi everyone:

I wonder if anybody has seen the control unit display showing English titles but the text is occasionally mixed with Japanese or symbols. It does not happen to all but only some titles once in a while. Sometimes I see this mixed text when playing Disklavier radio. My unit is a DGB1KE3. Thanks.

Minh

yes, i came across this problem and the only way to rectify it is to change the settings in the service mode.

Service mode can only be accessed by piano technicians. Please ask the nearest Yamaha Dealer to send their techie to change the detail.

all the best

Hi,

Can't get service here in the UK! Yamaha don't offer any service......
Just what do they do?

Aswath:

You said you came across this problem. Was it fixed by changing the settings? If it is a settings issue (software), then I can live with it. I am just concerned that there might be something wrong with my display hardware.

Peter:

You said no service in the UK. Do you have the same display issue that I asked, or were you just making a general comment about the lack of Yamaha service in the UK?

Sorry it wasn't a general comment re Yamaha, although their service is non existent..
I have a similar problem, in that since replacing the CPU on my piano, the display is in Japanese!
I wondered if you may have a solution?

Peter.

Peter,

Tell me what the model of the control unit is on your Disklavier and I will tell you how to correct the language problem. (It will be a DKCxxxxx or PPCxxxxx number on the front of the control unit.

Hi Bill:

Mine is a brand new DGB1KE3. The control unit is DKC-800. The English text is once in a while mixed with a few Japanese symbols. For example, when I play Disklavier Radio, "Etude" would have the Et in some Japanese symbols, and the rest of the word (and everything else) is in English. I can't really predict when it happens, whether it is some settings issue or corrupted text coming from the internet.

I wonder if you ran across this issue before. Thanks.

Hi Minh,

I have a Mark IV and quite honestly, don't look much at the PRC-100 screen while playing DisklavierRadio.

Do these Japanese characters only occur when listening to DisklavierRadio?

How often would you say this occurs?

When you see "Etude" displayed on the screen while playing DisklavierRadio, does the "Et" always come up in Japanese symbols?

Can you take a picture of your screen when you see this occur and send it to me?

Dear Minh:

NO it is not any corruption. It is just that the default OS settings is in Japanese. When you connect to Internet, it gets activated. So do not fret!! its very simple.

The Disklavier Techie can fix this. It is just to change the language in the con trol setup. But this can only be accessed by the Yamaha Technician.

Please contact your Yamaha Showroom for this.

I too faced this problem and it was resolved by the technician.
