Connecting Mark IV to subwoofer

2014-04-06 by <kevinweng99@...>

Hello,

I enjoy my DC3M4. Recently I have realized if I can extend the playback to a subwoofer, it will make the sound more wonderful.

Has anyone attempted that? I couldn't find any diagram or mentioning of subwoofer in the manual.

Thanks,

Kevin

If the sub has a built-in crossover, you can feed the OMNI OUT to the sub.

Oohps, pressed 'send' too early. The OMNI OUT gives you all the backing + sampled piano, the AUX OUT gives you just the backing

FWIW, I recently purchased one of those sound bars that are for under a TV.
Most of them have Bluetooth subwoofers. I purchases the Boston Acoustics
sound bar because the sub-woofer box was the smallest. I then mounted the
sound bar under the piano and connected it to the DKC-850. The subwoofer
sits in a corner of the room just plugged into the wall. No other wires
needed. So far this has been working perfectly.

Yes the omni out works like a champ! Wonderful to have added bass when playing back. Thanks Adrian Thomas Music Services!

One thing I don't quite understand is when playing disklavier recording, not only the sound comes from the acoustic piano since the keys are playing, the speakers also gives additional sound. Why? It has been like this. I just didn't notice it until I added the subwoofer.

Yous need to set the piano to 'Silent Mode' if you don't want to hear the acoustic piano.

Thanks that makes sense.
How about the other way around: I only want to hear the acoustic part? I only want the speaker sound for the voice and other audio part.

AUX OUT will give all the backing, minus the piano part. OMNI OUT will give you backing + (sampled) piano.

OMNI Out gives you several options:

- Output (giving you the same output as the Audio Outputs.)
- Output plus PianoTG (Same as Output plus a Digital piano sound that plays the piano part)
- PianoTG Only (only the digital piano sound that plays the piano part)
- Off

Re: [disklavier] Connecting Mark IV to subwoofer

2014-04-13 by Kevin Weng

I did get to the setting for OMNI OUT. But still two dependencies:

1. I don't see any AUX OUT. I check the manual there is no AUX OUT, only OMNI OUT.
2. I set the OMNI OUT to "output" only. In "Quiet" mode when headphone is connected, I expect there is no sound from the OMNI OUT, as it should only give "the same output as the Audio Outputs". The built-in speakers is silent, as the sound is playing through the headphone. However the sound is still playing to the Subwoofer.

This is what I try to accomplish: when in Silent mode with headphone, no sounds to be sent to the subwoofer. Is it possible?

Thanks for the help so far. Sorry if I have bored other people but I think by sharing these info other owners can benefit from it as well.

Re: [disklavier] Connecting Mark IV to subwoofer

There are no AUX Outs in a Mark IV.

OMNI OUTS are not affected by Silent Mode. Only the audio Outputs are "Off" when in Silent Mode.
