Mark IV iso image

2016-05-21 by dmitryos@...

Hi guys,

Thank you for joining me to the group! Today my wife made me a wonderful present with GC1 with Mark IV attached to it. I'm quite new to music and I hope Mark will help me in studying.

If I may ask you for some help please. I'm from Australia and tried to download from Yamaha ftp the latest iso update (as the current one is 1.2 or 1.02) and it doesn't a have remote control (I took it for some moment from another guy to check). But it shows that the ftp site ftp://216.154.248.26/ cannot be accessed (might be a region issue or it is just down). I cannot use the remote controller to download it from the internet (or I might not find that) as the remote controller used old interface version to communicate with the Mark an it didn't have Internet option or way to download the firmware. I even cannot check if the Mark can access the internet (but I still see its ip assigned from the dhcp). I read that iso might help me to upgrade from that old version.

Any chance someone can upload the iso image please or there is a place where I can download the image (sorry, really searched a lot but could not find).

I would appreciate your help.

Thank you very much in advance,

Dmitry

Thank you so much, Bill!!
I'm really new t this and I just burnt a cd disk. Just to confirm: I need to make an installation FD disk and use it somehow to boot(?) the device with the cd inserted for the updated to start?
Appreciate the answer,
Dmitry

Re: [disklavier] Re: Mark IV iso image

In a nutshell,

- create the boot floppy in the Disklavier.

- put both the CD and floppy into their drives, then power down the piano by holding in the green oblong button until it starts blinking.

- when it is off, power it back up. The loading phase of the update will start. This may take 20 minutes. Different LEDs will blink during the process. Then the CD tray will open.

- Remove the CD and close the tray. About 30 seconds later the piano will go completely off.

- power it up again. The update installation will take another 20 minutes. It will be done when the oblong green(LED) button is either bright or dull green, with no other LEDs blinking.

Let me know if this works for you. If so, then I will explain how to update the PRC100 remote.

Hi Bill! All worked as you described! Thank you very much! Just took more than half a day to find a working floppy disk.

I was able to connect from the PRC and I used Interface Updater to match the versions of the software. Is that the correct approach? Anything else I have to check in the settings?

I also was able to see the unit in the local network and use FromToPC folder for data exchange.

Just wondering if I can use somehow Virtual PRC page/applet/? as I could not find a URL for that.

Thank you again one more time!

Dmitry,

I haven't used Virtual PRC lately. I think George Litterst knows the best way of accessing it today.

George, can you tell Dmitry how best to access it?

Thank you, Bill!

I was able to find a folder DNA folder where the html file with the java applet sits. Will need to adjust java version on the local but this should be manageable.

Appreciate all you help to get me in line now :)

Thank you,

Good morning, everyone.

Dmitry, I personally prefer to control the Mark IV with the Virtual PRC running on a laptop. The Virtual PRC responds much more quickly than the physical PRC.

Unfortunately, the Virtual PRC is not compatible with some of the most recent versions of Java. I have avoided Java updates for that reason. Unfortunately, I don’t know if the Virtual PRC is compatible with the latest version of Java. Hopefully someone else can comment about that.

Regards,
PianoBench

Re: [disklavier] Mark IV iso image

I'm biased, but I like to control my Mark IV using DKVBrowser. :-)
The virtual PRC is compatible with recent versions of java...it's just that the launching technology that Yamaha used is no longer supported (or, at least it doesn't work.)
If you can manage to get the jar file off of your piano (search the archives of the group, as I've posted methods for fetching it in the recent past), you can launch it via an icon on your desktop (I'm talking Windows 10 here....).
My shortcut's target (nowadays, since it changes with the java versions...) is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_91\bin\javaw.exe" -cp prc100.jar gui.prc100 -h=192.168.0.6 -p=3191 webremote -w=31910

Just about everything should be the same for you aside from the -h, since 192.168.0.6 is my piano's fixed IP address. (You really should see about getting your piano on a fixed IP either from your router, or from the piano itself...)
Lastly, my shortcut's "Start In" is set to:
c:\users\kevin

since there's where I happen to have placed the prc100.jar that I pulled off of my piano.
If you are on a Mac, something similar can probably be achieved.

Dear DKV Group,

I would have to agree that DKVBrowser is by far the best application that I have ever used to control my Mark IV Disklavier. It continues to be unsurpassed in its reign.

Kudos to Kevin!

Hi Kevin,

Your suggestion to use command line to run jar file works perfectly. Tested with:

java version "1.7.0_101"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.6.6) (7u101-2.6.6-0ubuntu0.14.04.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.95-b01, mixed mode)

Works very fast. Will try to check dkvBrowser to see if I can also have it to work. Just to see which one is better to use as I have to return the real remote soon.

Dkvbrowser used to run natively Linux. With some effort, I could probably revive that.

Let me know if wine doesn't work out...

Hi Kevin!!!! First of all - thank you so much for such a program - just realized you are the author!!!
I tried. But I could not run in linux - I could not find a proper jar file and a class to run. Tried several of them without a luck. In Wine it didn't work for me unfortunately.
I would really appreciate if you can remember the steps to run in linux but if it takes too much time for you I will try to spend some time tomorrow but right now I just don't know what else to try.
Thank you, Dmitry

Dmitry,
Please contact me directly off the list. I have managed to build DKVBrowser native for linux.gtk.x86 and linux.gtk.x86_64. I no longer have a good way to test these (I used to dual boot ubuntu, but it's been a while.)
I presume no one else cares enough about this to keep it on the list...but if you do, please move requests over to the DKVBrowser yahoo group, instead of this one.
Thanks.-Kevin

Re: Mark IV iso image

2016-09-26 by operavin@...

I'm trying to update or reinstall the software or operating system for the PRC100. I have the ftp site but there are 10 files there, and I'm not sure what I should do with them.

I have a 1gb SD card for the PR100 which Yamaha has said should suffice.

Also on the ftp server are instructions, but they actually don't tell you what to do with the software, just how to do the upgrade once you install the SD card with the new files. I use a Mac; is that a problem? I have PCs in the store.

What I'm trying to do is to get this C3-MKIVPRO upgraded so we can run Disklavier TV and Disklavier Radio. Where I'm stuck is that I can't use the PRC100 because it will not connect to the MKIV unit. The WiFi cards were tested at Yamaha and appear to be fine. Once I can control the MKIV with the PRC100, I can check the MKIV OS and update it as needed I suppose. Then I can finally hook up all this Apple stuff - AirportExpress, Apple TV - and get TV and radio going.

I have to now head back to the customer's home and noodle around again, hoping to make a connection. There are no DKV experts anywhere in the area, and the nearest dealer/friend I spoke with is in the same boat as me: We joined Yamaha as dealers in the E3/DKC800/850 era. Now I'm learning Enspire, but there are literally dozens of MKIVs I'm trying to service and we're really stuck. If only I could just plug a DKC850 into it, but alas, that's not an upgrade path for the moment.

Any/all suggestions welcome.
