I'm interested in buying a Yamaha piano (model not yet determined). I've seen that the Canadian prices w/shipping are significantly lower than in the US. Has anyone bought this way? What are your experiences? Thanks, jb

jb- I've been checking into a disklavier and spoke with a dealer in Ontario last week. He said the price is the same as stateside except the exchange rate is about 63 cents for every American dollar and that's where the savings is. He hadn't come up with a shipping price yet. Once the local dealer realized I was shopping around, he lowered his price $4000 below retail. ks ----- Original Message ----- From: "jpbtacj" <jpbtacj@...> To: <disklavier@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Monday, February 18, 2002 5:47 AM Subject: [disklavier] Canadian Acoustic Piano Purchases > I'm interested in buying a Yamaha piano (model not yet determined). > I've seen that the Canadian prices w/shipping are significantly > lower than in the US. I have bought this way but then I'm a Canadian. The only concern I'd have
if I was a US citizen, is about obtaining service in the US for a model
purchased in Canada.
I'd imagine that with the Canadian dollar as low as it is, that a purchase
in Canada with US dollars is very attractive.
I believe that the Canadian pianos are manufactured in Japan. Is this true
for the US pianos (or are they manufactured in the US)?
