Silent system

2003-05-08 by quagmire_dave

I'm just confirming that my piano operates the same way when
headphones are plugged in, and I also find it irritating. I have a
DC1S MarkIIXG that was built around 1998/1999. I've considered
modification to the silent system box (shouldn't be too difficult),
but it looks like it requires removal of the left piano leg to
dismount the box, so I've just ignored it so far. I may just mount a
remote power switch for the speakers next to the silent control box.

Dave,

Another confirmation! At least it's comforting to know I'm not alone.

Rather than a power switch, I've thought of putting a DIP switch in
the AUX out to shut off the current to the speaker. I'm not sure if
this would give me the same "buzzz" as pulling out the AUX plug or
not.

It makes you wonder if the people that designed this actually used
their own product...

On the other hand, other than this minor inconvenience I really love
the silent system.
