Anyway to create a CD with music (MIDI) for Disklavier?

Is there anyway to create a CD (burned from a PC) that contains MIDI files to play on a Disklavier? I'm not talking about AUDIO files which will play on a Mark III, but instead MIDI files (or converted to something?) that will play? Thanks. SJ

Of course you can! I keep my entire MIDI collection on a single CD.
You simply create a CD with the MIDI files on it. I suggest you arrange
yours among well-named folders. Give the songs long names. For example
"Dutilleux Choral et variations Russo.mid". Instead of searching for
your files in a haystack of floppies, you use the Windows "Find"
facility to locate the songs on the CD. You would be able to find the
piece by the composer ("Dutilleux"), or the artist ("Russo"), or by some
word in the title. Use a sequencer such as Cakewalk or Power Tracks to
send the MIDI stream to the DKV. In a few minutes time, you can even
make playlists and tailor an evening music program with breaks while
your guests sip Amontillado.

You can burn MIDI files to folders on a CD, but they will not be able to play on your Disklavier. It is a good way to archive all of your MIDI files, but the only way a Disklavier will play them at this time is either on a floppy disk, or through software playlists on a computer attached to your DKV. I assume that Yamaha must have some way of doing this? I have even recently seen a recent Pianosoft title (audio) which was a solo piano. Not sure why they didn't just do a diskette. Anyway, they must somehow encode the piano/midi in the audio track. Since you can simply copy midi files to a diskette, why would they not allow you to do this with a CD? This would be great! I agree with you that this feature would be great. In fact, the QRS Pianomation Chili system has this capability. It is my understanding that even though all CDs look alike, they can have different formats and standards. The PianoDisc, QRS and Yamaha audio CDs that have MIDI on them that play the pianos, put the MIDI through an analog to digital converter. The audio is on one track and the MIDI is on the other. Perhaps the MarkIV will have this capability, or there might eventually be some software update or hardware upgrade that would provide the capability to play MIDI files from CDs on the Disklavier.
