Yamaha Support and product development

2007-08-31 by yeloc2

If any potential Disklavier buyer was a little hesitant because of the
technology involved in this product and was wondering about
support....then I say fear not. Mr. Brandom, Disklavier marketing
director and very much involved in product development, gave me all the
time I wanted to answer some tough tech questions. He not only put my
mind to ease about operational issues, but was really interested in
what I had to say about the consumer end. He also has assured me that
Yamaha is very interested in advancing this fine instrument into the
many aspects of our lives regarding looks, fun, technology, and of
course music. I did not have to mention support because the time he
gave me was plenty of proof on that issue. I was very impressed with
Mr. Brandom, who represents Yamaha very well. Just thought I would
mention this.

While I appreciate the merits of good debate, can we PLEASE move on
to something else. It seems like this topic has been exhausted (and
then some).

Re: [disklavier] Yamaha Support and product development

I wanted to put in my two cents worth on Bill Brandom as well. Bill
has, for many years, been the star of Yamaha support and has always
represented the customer's point of view in discussions with Yamaha
Japan. Bill and I have had many e-mail conversations regarding
features that I would like to see added to the Mark IV. Some of
these features (the ability to backup the internal HD of the Mark IV)
have been added since the Mark IV was introduced. Others, e.g. the
option of purchasing a larger HD (mine is almost completely full of
Yamaha software) and a Search function have not. However, in every
case when I have communicated these and other issues to Bill, I have
been confident and satisfied that he took the issues to Japan and has
placed them on the table for possible future versions of the Mark IV
software. Bill Brandom is an outstanding representative of Yamaha and
a huge asset to the community of disklavier owners. He usually works
in the background and I am glad to take this opportunity to praise
his work in public. It also gave me considerable pleasure to note
that Bill Brandom was recently promoted to National Product Manager
for the Disklavier, a truly well deserved promotion.
