i have downloaded midi files that contain piano (L hand/R hand) recorded in track 1. is there a way to separate this..ie L hand on track 1 and R hand on track 2 ? thanks

Sure! Use Cakewalk or Power Tracks and copy track 1 to track 2. In the Piano Roll View, erase the RH notes from track 1 and the LH notes from track 2. You're welcome. bvaldez98@... wrote: > > i have downloaded midi files that contain piano (L hand/R hand) > recorded in track 1. is there a way to separate this..ie L hand on > track 1 and R hand on track 2 ? thanks > > To Post a message to the group, send it to: disklavier@... > > To Post a private message to Todd Muncy, the group's founder and moderator, send it to: > disklavier-owner@egroups.com > > To reach our group's web site go to: > http://egroups.com/group/disklavier > > To visit Todd's family web site that contains some fun disklavier content among other things, go to: > http://MuncyFamily.com > > THINKING OF LEAVING THE GROUP? > If you are thinking of unsubcribing because you are getting too much mail, go the the web site and change your email delivery option instead. Hello Everyone, In a message dated 1/14/01 4:16:41 PM, rwelcyng@... writes the following regarding splitting piano parts into two tracks: << Sure! Use Cakewalk or Power Tracks and copy track 1 to track 2. In the Piano Roll View, erase the RH notes from track 1 and the LH notes from track 2 >> This works. However, you can save half of the effort by cutting the left hand notes from track 1 and pasting them into a new track 2. Here is another tip: Some sequencers will show a single piano track on two staves in notation view. Depending upon the nature of the piano part, the split that the sequencer does to display the parts in notation may come close to matching the split that you want. In this case, you can select the notes from one staff, cut them, and paste them into a new track. Regards, PianoBench

I got your message in my e-mail (have just joined the group and have a pianodisc player). I am looking to get either a Cakewalk or Power Tracks and have been all over the web trying to find out which is the best for me. Mostly I just want to make music playable on my piano. Thanks Doyle Newquist ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert E. You will find that PianoDisc ONLY plays MIDI files in format 0. Most of the mIDI files you will find on the internet are in standard MIDI format 1. Go the the PianoDisc web page, and find the free Convert program on the Roland web site. Sorry for the late reply, but I just joined the group. There is a Midi shareware utility called GNMIDI. One of the things it can do is separate L/R hands based on a split point. It also does conversion to smf 0, KAR to MIDI, and lots of other things. I have put a copy of this shareware utility ($30 registration)in the FILES section.
