Adding DKC850 to MPX1

Adding DKC850 to MPX1

2012-09-02 by tintinlad320

Hi

I will be geting a DKC850 for my mpx1 (which has the original DKC500R). The new unit opens new possibilities among which the use of yamaha's pianosoft plus audio cds. But it seems it is not possible (yamahamusicsoft.com) to use the smart pianosoft system (floppy + commercial cd); I wonder if there is a workaround the problem , if for exemple the midi data of the floppy is copies on a usb stick ans then loading the cd in the dkc850... would be nice to be able to play this collection which has many interesting titles...

Hints anybody?

I found this in the operating manual:

You can add a Disklavier piano performance you recorded or on
commercially available SmartPianoSoft software to the playback of songs
on your favorite CDs.

So its ok i guess; I wont have the diskettes reader unit so probably I'll have to copy the floppy to the pc and from there on on a usb stick I'll choose the
appropriate file...

Hi

I have tried copying SmartPianoSoft software to PC but failed because the software is copy protected. I am facing the same problem and happy to hear if you success doing this.

cheers

The DKC-850 does not ship with a floppy disk drive. You can buy a USB floppy drive from Yamaha for about $150. You need a USB floppy drive to put your disks into the Memory of the DKC-850. Then, when you play the CD that goes along with the disk, it will sync. You could even put all your pianosoftplus floppies into the same "album" in the memory.

There is a problem with that. Yamaha copy protection scheme will NOT allow you to:

copy a PianoSoft disk to a USB stick
copy a PianoSoft disk to the FromToPC folder
copy PianoSoft disks to CDs

The only way I have found to get your pianosoft floppies into the Memory is to use a USB floppy disk drive.

I figure if you can afford the $1500 for the DKC-850 you might save yourself a lot of time and trouble and just buy their USB Floppy Disk drive.

You can, however, convert your ESEQ disks to standard file formats using Giebler, DKVutils or Root a Ripper, then use the converted disks to place files on USB sticks, folders on a computer, etc.

Good luck.

If you are going to use a non-Yamaha USB FDD, I recommend the following:

Iomega #32633
LaCie #706018

These do work with protected floppies.

Re: [disklavier] Re: Adding DKC850 to MPX1

2013-03-12 by Bill Brandom

Because Yamaha has protected its PianoSoft files on floppy disks, most drives don't work.

The Yamaha drive that works is the UD-FD01. There are two other drives that I know that work with the protected data:

Iomega #32633
LaCie #706018

If you try a different drive and it works, please let the group know the make and model.

Re: Adding DKC850 to MPX1

2013-04-11 by buddaeru

Before I got my "official" Yamaha UD-FD01, I bought and tried those two and couldn't get it to work, it did not read the floppies..

With the UD-FD01, I imported all my 200+ Floppies into the DKC-850.. then backed them up to a USB Drive and locked it away.
I then started what I always wanted to do was to go thru all the songs and cherry picked all my favorites songs and created some awesome playlists.. classical soft, Blues, Pop, Xmas, etc..
