You would not be sure which pattern was playing, and there would be confusion to what length the pattern would be, either one pattern could be truncated or longer. I think we want to keep the simplicity in that a pattern is a pattern and is all that will be played at one time. We took an early design decision on this almost when we started the project, and found too many complications for it being worth it. Daniel
