Elektron Musical Instruments

A big thanks goes out to Cit (aka Citric Acid)! He just sent me a German translation for MD 
Machine Lab, and he's not even a Mac user! This is the first non-English localization of MD 
Machine Lab. His translation files are located in the Files 
section under

files/Machinedrum/Other/MD_Machine_Lab/translation_files/German/

If any of you speak German, it would be very cool if you could proof-read Cit's work to 
make sure it's as correct as possible.

Should have a first version for French this evening, I exchange files 
with No6 to cross check.

the localizable.string is uploaded in 5 minutes it's way TOO easy ;)

I'm into the "big one" now.

So, I started a Russian translation... I was confused: some words i 
cannot translate, its simply untranslatable in Russian. I understand 
their meaning but I can not translate it... sorry. I think its more 
convenient to leave it as is for Russian mac users.

p.s. by the way i'm not a Mac user, it would be much better to make a 
PC version, because there are many MD PC users

If English works best for the russians, that's ok. Whenever a localization for a 
particular language isn't available, MD Machine Lab defaults to English.

With regards to a Windows version of MD Machine Lab, I'm a Mac and Linux user/
programmer, and have very little experience with Windows. It's taken me many months to 
write this program, and I really don't have the motivation to spend another 6 months to a 
year writing a Windows version of the program that I'm not even going to use. Sorry. 
Maybe someone else here will write one...

As I'm a bit accustomed to music translation, translate the things that 
are not current in the day by day musician talk. For example 
Attack/Decay/Sustain/Release is rather universal, we do translate 
Attack in French, but it's because words are very similar (attaque). 
Percussion names also are not to be translated for the most part 
(moving territory). But you have still plenty of stuff you may put in 
Russian, like the distortion controls, or characteristics of waves.

I even found a fun equivalent for dampness! :D

If something is difficult, leave it! Maybe someone will give the 
solution or a consensus will arise to leave it alone.

I've gone about translating the Korean parts for machine names.  Some
I had to find in the dictionary because there are many borrowed words
anyway.  "Bass drum" in mine is basically "bass drum" with some added
syllables.  Many I'll have to consult my wife with.  Once we get that
we could probably throw together a Japanese version quite easily. 
Then it we would have to check with a friend or two about what we come
up with.

I hope there is no rush.  Maybe you can send us a beta or something of
the working program?  You probably aren't finished though.  It would
help to know what these things will be used for in the program.  

I mean it says "yes" and "no" on the machinedrum.  Is it really
important to translate it all?

I'll be releasing the first version of MD Machine Lab sometime this week, so it would be 
cool to have as many things translated as possible. However, if you don't get the 
translations done by then, don't worry. I've built a software updating system into my 
program, so we add/change translation tables later on.

And, yes, "yes" and "no" should be translated ;)

Also, in addition to the ".string" files I posted, there will be another 5 to 10 words to 
translate (from the buttons and menus in the GUI). I'll post them as soon as I'm sure which 
ones I need translations for.
