monomachine and midi, part 2

monomachine and midi, part 2

2005-11-23 by jeff

Hey all,

I've been tremendously successful in getting my sfx-6 to integrate into
my studio. The only problem I'm having is that I'd like to record some
of the patterns to Cubase and they only seem to record as 6 identical
tracks instead of each individual machine recording it's own pattern.

Someone else had the same question not long ago:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/elektron-users/message/12803

But it looks like their question was never answered cause it got off-
topic.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

-Jeff

Are you trying to print the Mono's MIDI tracks or internal tracks to Cubase?

The internal tracks. I'm just trying to dissect some of the mono's
preset patterns and have a look at them inside of Cubase without them
being a huge one track mess. :)

What are your default channels set to in Global?

They're still set to the default: Base channel 01, Channel Span 06,
etc. I've tried changing it, turning off multi trig and auto track,
etc and it's still the same issue. I'm sure I'm just doing something
stupid.

Hmm, that all sounds right on the Mono side. I don't know anything
about Cubase. Is it possible you have your MIDI source to Omni in
the Cubase record channels?

Hey,

That's a problem with cubase since you can't specify a specific
channel for iot's midi input, you can only select the port. I had
that same problem back when I was using it and wanted to automate
MD's CC morphs. I think it was with SX1.

I remember that there was a function that would let you do this for 4
channels or something but you better ask in the steinberg forum how
to do it.

Other way is to record them one at a time (if they don't midi ehrn
muted that is...got to check this one...)

But this may be improved in SX3 I don't know...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
