phew! well, i recently used mine for a pop/rock tune and what i did was record all the sounds to separate tracks and process them separately or in groups. i played a bit with adding room ambiance to snare, kick and toms, a bit more reverb on cymbals, etc. then compress and EQ to taste. but i think that's the best you can do since the MD doesn't allow complex layering etc. sequencing with a computer and getting detailed on dynamics and quantize offsets also helps give the md more life.... ultimately getting complex on a proper sampler will be the best choice imo... snorkmaiden23 wrote: > > hello all > > i've been a proud md owner for a couple of years. i was wondering if > anyone has any suggestions for making realistic sounding kits? i have > no probs making crazy stuff but i'm having trouble producing > convincing rock sounds . any tips? > > cheers > > > > __________ NOD32 1.1680 (20060727) Information __________ > > This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. > http://www.eset.com -- .roby http://www.sweet-trip.net http://www.myspace.com/sweettrip [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Hello! Well, sorry to sound like a jerk, but I think the MD is pretty much the wrong kit for that. I GUESS you could get something slightly acoustic-sounding from the PI-kits, but my suggestion is: Option 1: Upgrade to UW, load the machine up with some nice rock drum samples Option 2: Get a MPC or similar, or for that matter a silly cheap sampler like a S2000 or something and trigger it using the MIDI machines. (if you want to stay in hardware, otherwise, download preferred freeware VSTi drum sampler...) Regards /Patrik

I'd have to agree, the MD is not really the best choice for this. I suppose to get close I'd start with the E12 kits as they as sample based. On 8/17/06, roby <roby@...> wrote: > ultimately getting complex on a proper sampler will be the best choice > imo... > -- Tarekith http://www.tarekith.com

Also check out a NORD DDrum or Roland TD series... you can trigger them via midi for realistic drums sounds... Anyone else have any luck with rockin on the MD? -Jesse

yeah i guess UW or another module is the way to go. using a mix of PI and E12 i've gotten some ok results so far but the snare usually sounds a bit too snappy or a bit too flat. cheers Jon --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, "rydan" <rydan@...> wrote: > > Hello! > > Well, sorry to sound like a jerk, but I think the MD is pretty much the wrong kit for that. I've been using Reason and the Reason Drum Kits 2 for my rock drums. It sounds amazing with the MD in tandem. That is if you wish to use your computer as well. Still haven't figured out real drums on the MD.
