I just received my Machinedrum today, plugged it in, the lights flashed and it went dead. My paperwork shows I ordered the correct US power supply, has anyone had this happen? Talk about being disappointed, you get your new toy and it doesn't work. I emailed Elektron, but it will probably be tomorrow before they repond. :( -Scott

Check the wall wart if you're handy with a multimeter (if you're not, and not in confidence with electricity, keep out, there's main currant nearby) The obvious is either the adaptor or the internal fuse is dead but as it is new I won't go into the MD to check the fuse. (the less than 1 euro for 10 fuses repair) Better to see with the Elektron guys. These things can sk! (I'm running through open doors here ;) Anyway, when buying one, ALWAYS prefer the biggies than the littles tiny ones. 1/ they are with transformers or properly made switching power supplies (took me an hour to find the English word) 2/ they are usually oversized so they get less hot 3/ overall conception is better = from less to almost no noise from the switching power supply (noise on the power line, even on other equipement, not the noise a power supply can make that you can hear, it's different, if it's noisy this way, change it) But they are BIG, and they are not as dirt cheap as the others. This said, a small one won't necessarily be a bad one, but they are swimming in a sea of small bad ones. btw never plug a power supply not matching exactly Elektron specs. It's in the manual I know it, I've translated it ;) (I repeat it again) (save you KNOW what you're doing, if you don't, "don't f around with it!" (c)Gonzales) Remember, in your XXXXXXXXX$ equipement, it's always the tiny inexpensive bit of rust that WILL annoy you first. It's part of Murphy's law. In fact she is getting one of those new powerbooks next week. I'm a little excited too. I want to know of any good audio interface, sequencer, and softsamplers for mac. Any suggestions?

For a Sequencer, DP is suppose to come out with MOTU Digital Performer any day now. .. But, really , in OS X you are safe getting any sequencer make sure that REASON plays nice with it [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Elektron emailed me right away this morning and are going to cover shipping costs to send it back. That is quick service! I've waited this long to get the Machinedrum, so I will reserve judgement on the product until it's working properly. -Scott --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, "I've got a LASER, Earthman!" <lepetitmartien@m...> wrote: > le 13/02/2003 02:01, izfunky <izfunky@a...> à izfunky@a... a écrit : > > > I guess I'm still > > in shock (no pun intended) at having dropped $1100 and not being able > > to use it yet > > Except a microsurge right at the moment you powered up Blame it on the wall > wart. I want > > to know of any good audio interface, sequencer, > and softsamplers for > > mac.\ufffd Any suggestions?\ufffd > I guess it depends exactly what you want to do with the program. If you want to sequence your MD and use softsamplers, Logic Audio. If you want to use your mac to play a live set, Abbleton Live. If you want a good, portable interface, you can try digi design's M-box (portable usb interface with 1/4" In/Outs, MIDI I/Os, plus it comes with Pro-Tools LE, good for a lot of shit). __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? A lot depends of what you want to do. Flavio is right. I may add: Sequencers/audio editor: (from the MIDI workhorse to the audio workhorse) -Logic (can even fry eggs in midi, not easy but powerfull) -DP (before long under X, certainly more friendly than Logic) -Protools (very easy to use) Cubase SX is better than Cubase was, but Nuendo is better still. Only Nuendo is looked at as pro. However, Cubase is more There are new softs in X like Metro (ex cakewalk) and less know new stuff like five12 Numerology (modular analogue sequencer like) Some users have adopted some already, you'd better have a look in our OSX forums for these. Ableton Live is GREAT! but no midi save sync On interfaces The Mbox is great if you need a good preamp (focusrite inside) and max 2 audios streams. I can't tell you how it interface with other software under X as Digidesign stuff will be X from the 16th on only. Else you can use MOTU, RME, Emagic (great bundles), Presonus (soft still uncomplete) wich are the pro/semipro choices. I have no hands on experience on the USB stuff but it seems better in X than in OS9 (some drivers were awfull) Interface like it depends a lot of what you want to do with.
