repair/customs question

repair/customs question

2003-02-25 by izfunky <izfunky@aol.com>

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of getting my Machinedrum repaired (brand new
unit/blown fuse) and was wondering if when the unit is shipped back
to me if I will get another customs charge from FedEx. Has anyone
has experience with this situation? I have paid my original customs
bill and really don't want to fork out another 64$! Thanks for any
input. -Scott

Scott:

Fedex did try to charge me customs for the return from repairs
and I had to dispute the charges. It's a bit of pain but as far
as I know you don't have to pay customs for a repair. Keep the original
invoice and shipping info just in case, and if you don't have it elektron
probably has a copy which they will fax to you.

Thanks for the info, I will keep invoices. I'm curious, did you have
to call Fedex when you received you second bill and send or fax them
proof of original order so they would cancel the charge? Anyway
thanks for responding, it will get me prepared if this happens. :)

Scott:

I did have to make several phone calls, they have no idea what they're doing at fedex.
Finally someone faxed me a form to dispute the charge, which I faxed back to them. Last
I heard on the phone the charge was removed, altho I just recieved some letter in the
mail saying the dispute was under consideration. Whatever that means.
I'm not concerned about it. They're not getting any money.

You probably have to tell FedEx that it was not bought or shipped as
new.
