On my windows vista laptop, EMXP can read and write SD cards with both the internal card reade *and* with a USB card reader. And it works for both the Emax and the Emax-II (the type of sampler shouldn't matter anyway, problems with card readers on EMXP/Windows are a windows/driver issue not related to what EMXP does with the card...) The only difference between using EMXP and SD cards for Emax and Emax-II is that for Emax-II the cards must have been specifically *physically* formatted for use in an Emax-II. However, formatting removable harddisks (like SD cards) for use in Emax-II is NOT supported by EMXP, because I simply didn't succeed yet in finding out why my formatting routines don't work for the Emax-II :-) So if you have an Emax-II, you must first format the SD card in the Emax-II itself before you can write and read the card with EMXP. But if you have an Emax, you don't have to format the SD card specifically for the Emax - the preformatting of the card (done for Windows/Mac) should be OK. So you can immediately start reading and writing the cards with EMXP. //E-Synthesist --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "drifter7508" <drifter7508@...> wrote: > > > Thx for the info =) > Still dont understand why a USB card reader adn EMXP > works with Emax and not Emax II? > Whats the difference?? > > My trouble is that all my computers are MAC. > That means no SCSI solutions, no solutions for floppy... > and so on. It has something to do with the SCSI connection I think. I bought one of the SCSI CF/SD card writers from TED Summers and mounted it in my EMAX II and it works great. There is a SD pc card adapter you have to buy, but it cost like 6 dollars off ebay. > > I put the SD card adapter in my XP laptop, use EMXP to write to the SD card, then I take the adaptor out with the SD card still in it and put it in the pc card slot on the card reader mounted in the EMAX II, you can boot from it also. Works like a charm. > > I think you can only use up to 512mb size SD cards, but with that much space, you can load the O/S and tons of banks on one card. > >  Hope this helps. > > Jason van Helsdingen Synthesist for the EBM/Industrial band - TV > > www.last.fm/music/_TV_ > > > > --- On Wed, 1/6/10, drifter7508 <drifter7508@> wrote: > > > > From: drifter7508 <drifter7508@> > > Subject: [emax] Re: How to:?
