Emax

Hi everyone- I just bought an Emax I rack (not SE). I was trying to 
use the filter on it using the data slider, but it wouldn't work in 
real time - i couldn't sweep the filter. I'd move it some, and i 
wouldn't hear the result until i re-triggered the sample. 

Is there a way to use the data slider in real time to perform a 
filter sweep? Also, does the Emax respond to CC's or Sysex? If so, 
what CC is the cutoff of the filter? I'd like to assign a knob on my 
controller to the filter cutoff.

I don't think you can have real time control over the filter. I've only ever assigned the 
filter to velocity. As far as CC and Sysex, the Emax doesn't do CC and it's Sysex isn't 
very functional.

YES! You can control the filters in real time by moving the cursor to Env 
(Envelope) and moving the data slider up and down from there. I think you 
can also set one of the wheels to control the Envelope so that you can 
change it in real time outside of the Filter module.

Yes you can on an Emax I SE keyboard version, I do it all the time.

You assign the Right Wheel to control the Filter Cutoff.  You can 
assign the Right Wheel to control lots of things and one of them is 
the filter cutoff.

I haven't got the Emax in front of me to tell you which module you 
need to go into, probably analog processing, but it is very straight 
forward if you look at your operating graphics.

You can then set up an arpeggio with a nice unfiltered Moog bass 
sample and then filter it to your hearts content in realtime.

However,  I don't know if the rack version lets you use your master 
keyboards mod wheel to achieve the same effect over MIDI.

You can do that under PRESET DEFINITION 9 Realtime Controls > 1-6:
On the Rack Model for Left or Right Wheel you set the corresponding 
Controller number. You can also use monopressure and MIDI Control A + 
B (limited to only a few controllernr. 0-33). Which numbers are MIDI 
A+B you set under PRESET DEFINITION 7 MIDI. Regs Rascal
